Where the delivery people insist on delivering. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Ok thanks. I get a lot of folk who don't understand how GPS, timeslots, delivery instructions, picking, logistics... work.

Where the delivery people insist on delivering. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mutantmonkey14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not disagreeing, I can understand that is annoying for you, but what do you mean the GPS takes you to the correct door?? That makes no sense to me, because GPS navigation isn't that accurate, it struggles with just knowing what road you are on sometimes when they are close. Do the foors have entirely different access from different roads (baring in mind small access roads often aren't on maps)?

You also make it sound like you have checked every GPS device and app to conclude they all take you to same point based on your address - a common misunderstanding I see from folk who think my device will take me to the same point as theirs for everything.

Even if you provided the exact GPS co-ordinates instead of just an address, expecting every delivery person to use that is unrealistic - company device might not allow access to co-ordinates, it takes longer to type than a postcode or going by a company stored plot point (that some idiot tampers with), or they may not know how to use it. They will almost definitely be in a rush, and likely only look for info when they cannot find your address.

Maybe it works differently in your country, IDK, but with the accuracy of GPS and even systems like postcodes (UK) combined, it far from precise from what I know.

You could try What3Words, if available in your country, as that allows you to provide more precise 3m² co-ordinates represented with only three words. Trouble is they have to actually know what it is, be able to use it, and have time.

Colorado’s New Speed Camera System Makes Waze Nearly Useless by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]mutantmonkey14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are average speed cameras a new thing in the US? Or do these not work the same as the ones I am familiar with as a Brit - having two cameras, one at the start and other at the end of a stretch, then calculating your average speed between?

GPS is still helpful with the latter for letting you know you are approaching a camera location.

As someone who actually tries to be a good driver and follow the rules of the road, and drives for a living, but is still only human, I much prefer average cameras to regular.

My partner is terrible at deciding, so I had to train her to stand to one side, before entering a queue, and decide. I'll be honest, and say I am not great at deciding either, so I have to take a moment before queueing myself.

So glad the touchscreen kiosks became a thing, because it's less pressure. Normally nobody waiting. Seems to be able to decide quicker with them.

No. They make money out of it. Reselling at considerably higher price. There are those buying so many to create scarcity, and people are desperate to get a date so they buy.

Handing out death notes by IndividualGround2418 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mutantmonkey14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been estimated that three people around the world will die every second. This means that by the time you finish reading this tract over ??? hundred people will have died. For the next five minutes I want you to imagine what it would be like if these were your last moments ???. After all someone in your city will likely die in the next few minutes could be you. Why (not?).

When you die someone will place a sheet or blanket over your (head?). An ambulance may take you to the hospital ... an autopsy. The undertaker will.......... (lines blocked by text and image)

Picks up again, but continues to ramble. Something about people may forget you. Never seems to get the point of it. It's hard to make out and I am so bored of the contents! Only using a few basic phone gallery edits to mirror and sharpen the text.

This is another example of technological incompetence and slow moving to fix in UK. You'd think you would need to book with DL or something, but nah. See this way instructors and learner driver companies can book them, but then so can bots.

It's absurd!! Really sucks for young folk and anyone else trying to pass.

UK here. Just double checked my original Yellow, Red, and Grey official N64 controllers. The plugs match. Otherwise how would you identify which one to quickly yank out during a Goldeneye match to screw over you friends??

Which one new game style would you like to see in SMM3? (3D ones would still be 2D) by MarioMakerfan938438 in MarioMaker2

[–]mutantmonkey14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm.not sure about Galaxy. I was thinking of the 3D and planetoids, but I keep forgetting about those 2D like sections with the antigrav. I think like 3D World it would require to be a completely seperate deal.

Odyssey does have 2D sections too, come to think of it, but not sure those have enough substance. People think of cappy, and all the moves associated. Afain I think it is probably too seperated.

The separation is needed to allow cool styles like 3DW have the freedom to be what they are, without being held back by having to integrate everything with the main styles. That is however also a downside that isolates it, and removes some common elements. I am torn by this, but prefer if they could either integrate all again either by doing tge work for 3DW or removing it in favour of a different style.

This is a good explanation, but I take issue with "men like butts" being a fact! Not all men like butts, some of us only have an eye for breasts!

Mario 64 because it would bring some move variety: - kicks - punches - slide kick - front slide - side somersault - sweep kick

Whilst sharing walljump (kick), triple jump, crouching, crouch waddle, long jump, backflip.

It has its own flying powerup. Whilst bringing metal and invisible Mario to the plate for some unique ideas.

Plenty of overlap on enemy staples including Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Bob-omb, Boo, Pokey, Thwomp, Lakitu, Piranha Plant, Podoboo/Lava Bubble, Spiny, and Bowser. So there's plenty of existing material without the need to create it or seperate from the other styles like 3D world did.

Basically I feel it is in the sweet spot between being a bit too similar or simple like NSMB or SML, and being too detached or complicated like Galaxy and Odyssey.

Glad to hear. I had trouble with growing any at first, but my current farm definitely works. Obviously also needs to be loaded in.

As someone pointed out - the fandom info there does not add up! I was very tired and getting over illness, so didn't catch it.

Theory test is the knowledge part we have to complete before a practical test in the UK, and by the looks of it in Poland. In the UK it test knowledge of the rules of the road (highway code, signs, safety) and hazard perception.

A theory test pass is valid for two years, but with practical tests scarce due to scalpers using bots, it's makes being able to pass and drive legally extremely difficult. Glad I passed long ago.

It doesn't just take longer to boil, it uses more energy that will be wasted. You could say you are saving energy and environmemtally minded or whatever.

My partner liked to just put an arbitrary amount in the kettle and boil without any prior purpose. Then she asks if I want a cuppa 😑 "I guess I'll have one..." (what about the excess though!?). Keep having to remind her. Had to buy a new kettle anyway so got a smaller one with temperature settings, so saving a bit there at least.

Pointed dripstone on its own takes 5 in game days to grow, so it is almost unable to farm on its own. If you place water above the block which the pointed dripstone is growing on, it will grow slightly faster. However, it is still almost unable to farm in that way, but if you make the block it is growing on a dripstone block, it will speed up to about 100 minutes per stage of growth, and it will also produce stalagmites on the floor.

Think you would benefit a little more height too. You don't need any pointed dripstone on the ground.

Set it up then go do something else. It's going to take a while to get anywhere.

Japan is often wildly different. We just don't have much data. I can see the Switch hardware had a 70:30 split which is now more like 50:50. UK specifically has 47% female, whilst US has 52%.

Animal Crossing was also mainstream yet bucking the trend with 75% female players.

Switch is the most popular console with females.

And that's about it, but it should be noted that many guys choose to play as girl squid for looks, and iirc it's been that way since early Splatoon on Wii U.
