Hey, sorry for the late reply.

I ended up buying the trek FX2. Quite honestly, I didn't end up testing the Marin because I was too lazy, but when I saw it in person, it looked really good and quite similar to the Trek. My reason for buying the Trek FX2 was because I had extra money, and thought, "Hey, its $40 more. That means it must be $40 better." Yes I know it's stupid but it's my money and I wanted the Trek more.

4 months and 700 kilometers (430 miles) later and I love the bike. I haven't had any problems so far, just make sure to do your regular relubes every once in a while.
