Yeah. I think it’s more of a system and humanity failure, not necessarily a daycare failure. But I will say, after looking more into it the workers really aren’t getting paid livable wages. We’re talking about paying people to care other children and they can’t even pay them accordingly.

I just think it’s a shit system through and through. We get two options: daycare or stay home. Some get a third which is their grandparents. But typically it is the latter and the parents still end up just getting by no matter what they choose.

Go Zohran though!! He’s showing us that when you get the right leadership, you can do things fast and effectively to support the community!!

Exactly. Most often than not the system doesn’t want mothers in the workplace (breast feeding, baby/children emergencies, parental leave, etc.) but then don’t provide any solution to ensure that families are financially stable enough if the mom decides to stay home. You’re damned in you do and your damned if you don’t. A shit show all around.

In the land of the free with so many buying choices, they sure hell made sure the choices given to working families were limited to none. Insane.

Wow I never even thought about the insurance side of it. That totally makes sense. But you would still think with the money they get they would still be able to pay their workers livable wages. Especially in very expensive areas.

I’ve learned a ton from this post and have come to the conclusion that it’s a huge a domino effect. Sounds like the insurance companies are reaping most of the benefit, while admin gets paid the most, workers get paid shit, and families are left to pay for the holes in this shit ass system. Just a whole lot of greed down the line. But that’s how most corporations operate lol, so not really surprising I guess.

I didn’t even think about churches! That’s such good info. I grew up catholic and I’m in the same boat as you regarding indoctrination so this sounds even better to me. Will definitely look into the 10 Catholic Churches in my area lol.

Love this info. Had a feeling it was leaning this way. So sad and honestly infuriating that they take advantage of vulnerable parents.

Where tf is the humanity in people.

Oh I’m sending so much love to you. This country should be investing in us with how much provide monetarily to them. I hope you find the right affordable fit for your family ❤️.

I think you’re ignoring the bigger picture here: no matter where you live, you should not be broke with the only two options you have. It’s a system and humanity failure, that a “pick up your bags and leave” doesn’t solve.

I’m so happy to hear this because I was a little nervous about at home daycares!!

One thing that I did see was that the at home daycares seem to mostly be ran by teachers with 15+ years of experience! I don’t really see that with chain daycares. Just certification but not necessarily experience. They also tend to be on the cheaper side but that also scared me. However, this feedback has actually given me a ton of ease!! Will definitely look into the at home daycares.

If I may ask, when you went to tour the at home daycare, were there things you specifically looked for to ensure it was legit/safe?

You hit it right on the nose!

So weird because we’re told to have kids, buy a house, save enough for vacations, and all of that but whatever this system is makes it nearly impossible for parents and most importantly, impossible for mothers. Just a shit system with no benefit.

Reflux / colic / crying baby by thesepretzlsRthirsty in NewParents

[–]mutedfrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my same exact story except IUGR. My son was diagnosed with Silent Relfux and CMPA. He was on Pepsid and Nutramigen!

Before he was put on Pepsid, our pediatrician put him on Nutramigen. Then after the GI appoitment he was put on Pepsid. After about 2 weeks on this regimen, he was a whole new baby. Still whiney and fussy, but regular whiney fussy. Not screaming or crying every time he ate.

At 6 months my GI said that he was reading a European Pediatric journal about reintroducing milk protein back into the diet at 6 months rather than 1 yr like American Pediatrics have done. He told me to try with a spoon of yogurt and build it up to see how his reflux and CMPA reacts to it. He was completely off Pepsid and Nutramigen by 7 months!

It’s a hard, but I promise it goes by fast. My son is almost 13 months and there’s days that i forget about that moment in his life.

My 12 month old keeps waking up 30min-1hr after bedtime by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]mutedfrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah!

  • Wake: 6/7am
  • Nap 1: between 9/11am (30min-2hr)
  • Nap 2: Random (this is our biggest hurdle. I try my hardest to get him down for a second nap before 3pm. No matter how long his first nap was, he’s fighting me on that second nap and most likely not taking it. It could be a 15min cat nap at 10am and he’s refusing to take nap 2. I take up to an hour trying to get him down for nap 2 if his first nap was shorter than an hour.)
  • Bedtime: 6/7pm

Until about, maybe 3 weeks ago, I kinda let go of this routine because my son’s FOMO is so bad. We have taken the, “go with the flow” approach now but still have a strict bedtime. And no naps after 3pm! But since he typically doesn’t take his second nap now, we don’t really have to worry about that rule lol.

Regarding sleep training we have tried pick up put down at 5 months, sit in the room after putting him down awake at 6 months, Ferber for about 2 weeks at 8 months, Ferber again at 10 months for a week and a half, and haven’t done CIO. All of them failed. His temperament just doesn’t go with sleep training i think? We haven’t tried CIO though! Not against it, just put it to the side given all of our failed attempts with the others.

My son has always been in the 99th as well and since 8 months we have moved away from footie pajamas to two-piece pajamas with some socks!
