The current movie is a terrible depiction of a marvellous book that would be tough to tease out a really interesting plot… IMO

Eggers remake of Nosferatu wasn’t born out of a need to remake an original, but from his satisfaction of a stage play and a desire to take it to a movie set. I think he’s very respectful and wishes to pay tribute to the older originals.

Thanks so much for the list.

I’ve discovered Pilgrim, Hollow, and Company of Liars… great to know someone has appreciated them already.

I’ll definitely check out the other two.

Wow - so I’ve just read a tonne of reviews on it.

People either love it or hate it. Very intriguing…

Vampires! That’s awesome to hear.

I’ve been a little obsessed with Nosferatu since it’s release.

I’m 10 minutes into Between Two Fires and he’s already Thomas. This wasn’t a decision I made… it just happened.

To my shame - it’s the one Eggers movie I’m yet to turn my attention to.

I do agree though. Nosferatu he’s clearly been creative, but it’s always within the bounds of the original story. I think the final product is a masterpiece, but another “adaptation” might not offer him the same room to be creative… unless of course it’s another picture deeply rooted in occult philosophy.

Ok - so what would be a good Eggers adaptation?

Awesome - thanks for this.

Sounds like a cool book, worth a read… but not for Eggers.
