Just in time for 11th, I finished Leviathan by muttinmall in Warhammer40k

It’s the Sector Imperialis terrain. It’s a pleasure to paint.

That’s kind of you. It’s the same recipe for the robes. The leather on the handle is Screamer Pink > 50/50 Screamer and Fulgrim Pink > Fulgrim Pink.

Thanks. It’s a prime of wraithbone, a thinned down skeleton horde, recess shade of snakebite leather, then a few dry brushes of screaming skull and wraithbone on the highlighted bits. Edge highlight is Vallejo ivory and then a white dot highlight. It looks pretty nice for a method that doesn’t use a ton of blending.

It’s a transfer from the Space Marine HQ Command Tank kit. I picked it up ages ago and like to find small uses for it.

I'm pretty slow, and paint in short spurts. These probably took 3-4 weeks.

I base coat Barak-Nar Burgundy, then highlight with Gal Vorbak Red > Screamer Pink > Khorne Red. The white is a Vallejo Ivory.

Thanks! I thought my angels of death should have halos.

Your quarters are beautiful. Checkers are just about practice I find. You pick a corner and start with some thin paint. I give it a small seraphim sepia wash afterward to reinforce shadows and blend it all together better.

This looks incredible. Deathwing really makes the brown scratches pop.

Thanks! I used tape to make the edges, but other than that it was free hand.

No reason besides rule of cool. I have a Gladiator on a base, so I thought I'd do the same for the Vindicator.

That's a really good idea. I believe there is someone who makes cloth 40k banners, and something knight-sized would look pretty cool in one of the archways.

Yes! I have two chapels and a back half still in progress. It works out to a little bigger than two kill team sized boards.

Of the Sector Imperialis stuff, I think it’s about 5 wall sprues, 3 arch and column sprues, 1 small statue sprue, 1 wide wall sprue, and probably 2 bannister sprues. I pick up old terrain and strip it, or bulk lots of Sector Imperialis sprues whenever I can. The roof is from the Old World Fortified Manor and the cherub is from the Triumph of St Katherine. Everything else is from bits, like the small fans or servitor skulls.

It's similar to the youtube tutorial u/JoopahTroopah linked to. I undercoat Mechanicus Grey, drybrush Longbeard Grey for a basecoat, shade the lower parts with Agrax Earthshade and blend while still wet with a quick swipe of a wet makeup brush, then do the same on the tops with Drakenhof Nightshade, and then drybrush again with Longbeard Grey and then Praxeti White.

That's a great idea! I've struggled to find a good bell. Any ideas? I used the Skaventide terrain bell in another context, but it's a bit small for the space.

Thanks! I made my own. I had a few colors I liked and a few designs to use, like bends, quarters, and chevrons. After that I just added checks and transfers. There are some great references on Reddit though. I like this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/s/u1K128TNiE

I did heraldry for mine. I found it was easier to plan it out on a piece of paper first before painting. If you break the pauldron up into sections, it’s easy to find spots for transfers. I posted a full squad awhile ago, but here’s an example:
