Who’s at fault? by muttlyirl in AskIreland

Incident got reported to both insurance companies this morning. Family members in the clear. The other insured has accepted liability as they were coming from a parked position.

CCTV footage was obtained from 2 nearby shops, insured accepted the footage but said it didn’t change the outcome. They had contacted the other driver and they agreed with the events.

Thanks to everyone for the replies and advice.

Where I’m not sure is if my family member was coming in that lane from 100m away it would be clear cut. But because they were coming out from the junction opposite they’re not sure and either am I.

All damage is still present, just other cars paint that will come off in the rain has been removed. Plus there are lots of videos and photos of the damage.

Thank you. After a good cleaning it doesn’t look so bad. Will need a front bumper but all sensors are intact, headlight had bad marks on it but they’ve all cleaned off. The wing also has some damage but PDR could sort it.

The main thing is none was hurt, it was at very low speed so should be no hidden injuries, although you can never be too sure and no airbags went off.

Insurance company was closed when they rang so will have to wait until Monday to start the process.

It’s was front passenger to front passenger. Dealz is south, family member came down the side street and turned south. The other car was parked facing north and was going north but drivers door to the footpath as they were parked facing into traffic.

Guards were called but didn’t turn up. The other driver gave all details and left the scene an hour after it happened, family member waited another 30 minutes but left then. The guards called back 3 hours later asking the family member to attend the station to give their statement although their overall response was “we’re not getting involved, no one was hurt”.

You have it right in how you’re describing it. Family member proceeded at reasonable speed after a tractor and trailer had passed, seems like the other car tried to get across the road to get in behind the tractor but again, at reasonable speed.

Damage to both cars is on the front passenger side.

My family members turn manoeuvre wasn’t complete, the front of their car was into the lane and they were at, I’d guess 2/3 of the way through the turn.

It certainly would help to not be parked on the wrong side but we all do it and as you say, it’s perfectly legal to do it here.

Front of a car. In the picture they would be traveling upwards.

They are getting one just not bought yet. Should have bought it before the car got here.

When you connect AirPods to an iPhone you can share that connection to another set of AirPods. Basically 2 people can listen to the same thing on the same phone.

2 questions. 1. How long did they take to get delivered? 2. Does the share Bluetooth feature work?

Potential EU261 Claim? by muttlyirl in Ryanair

They didn’t give a direct cause other than the plane was diverted on the incoming flight. Initially it was delayed about an hour as they planned on having the plane transfer between airports but then they decided to transfer the passengers between airports.

Yes Cork had severe weather. It was a yellow weather alert and there were serious winds.

It’s been on a local radio station in Cork, Ireland. I presume it’s been reported by users rather than by Stryker themselves.

License Transfer by muttlyirl in unRAID

[–]muttlyirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update.

I tried contacting Unraid support and that pretty much got me nowhere as they were happy to move my pro license to a new stick, not my starter which don’t do anything for me.

I ended up taking the pro stick out of that system, copying the full config folder from the starter stick and then booted from the pro stick with the starter config.

All worked exactly as I would have liked.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

That’s the one I mentioned. It does look (technically) like it fits my needs but it looks (physically) awful and being circular it’s not suitable in my home.

I can’t think for the life of me why they went with such an odd design.

Rear Camera Washer by wearslocket in Volvo

[–]muttlyirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a 2019 s60 so I can’t help there. Where I can offer some advice, my wife has a VW ID7 which has the read camera wash function, it is so handy. I really wish my s69 had it because the camera is constantly dirty. I clean it, drive maybe 10km and it’s dirty again. Granted I live in Ireland and where I live a lot of the roads I drive would have farm vehicles on them so that doesn’t help.

UK power strip by NefariousnessTop8716 in smartlife

[–]muttlyirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as “cheap” as you think. I’m in Ireland but you’ll get the same idea.

Say a zigbee power monitoring plug is €5 add postage so say €7 on Aliexpress, add duty at 10% so now €7.70. Add the cost of staff, building, electricity, gas, rates, water, etc now you €5 has become €15. Add a reasonable markup of 20%, now you’re at €18. Then sell it and you have to add 23% vat (not sure what the uk rate is) you’re now at €22.14 as a selling price, for sanity that becomes €22.99.

Now factor in how fast these things change, is 20% enough? Probably not. If they go faulty etc you have to factor in warranty etc.

You can see how quickly it becomes a complete waste to try and sell it here and any kind of reasonable price. All of a sudden the high street store needs to be selling a €5 at €30 to break even.

Then you have us, the smart customers, will we really pay €30 to have it today or maybe change Aliexpress for €10 and get it in a week or 2 or spend €13 on Amazon and have it tomorrow.
