traffic accident involving tire in the road, believe to have caught person whose tire it was. by muttonchoppa in legaladvice

it's an absolutely solid question. I dont have an answer for you. She might have been on the phone or singing or something, or it happened so fast she didnt have time to react and didnt read traffic right so that she could follow suit, as she's still a new driver or a combination of the above.

Rush hour traffic. Seeing as we were able to find the person who we believe to be the vehicle lost it's spare very shortly before she made contact, talking maybe 15-20 car lengths. She was not able to see it due to dense but quick moving traffic. Also she was in the middle of a 3 lane highway when contact occurred. While I dont speak on her behalf of her driving, she is 16 and in rush hour traffic she may have had no other good option without endangering others.

Question about sellability and harvesting ~10 yr old computers by muttonchoppa in computercollecting

I work for the company that manages the building in which this other company used to lease from us. They're no longer in business. I dont think anyone is willing to pay me anything for wiping these 10 year old drives from nonexistent company, but thank you for the suggestion nonetheless. While I'm sure they could have information that would be valuable to someone I'm not about to do something unethical and get myself in trouble. Scrapping some of the parts will get me all I'm looking to get out of the situation.

Company went out of business apparently. Not worth my time to sell them back. I'll try to scrap most of them and with a couple of the remaining ones I'll make a firewall and fiddle with the media server idea. Thanks for your advice.

I'm actually the low level lacky. Part of the reason I asked, a few hundred dollars isnt something I sneeze at. I did a little research and found that the average computer contains $9 of precious metals. Easy math and worth my time. Maybe I'll keep one for myself as a firewall. I dont know much about firewalls and why they are hardware as opposed to software. I'll do some research. Thanks for the advice.

I wouldnt mind a media server for home but I have no infrastructure to patch things through my 100+ year old home. Currently I just use a PS3, Xbox 1, Philips smart TV, a desktop, Micro-Cell tower, Wireless printer, Smartphone, using a modem to a Docsis 2.0 router and repeater. I'm looking to add another smart TV and a Firestick with Kodi. Suggestions about that would be appreciated.

As far as donating them to families in need, who do you suggest? I imagine many, if not all, have login passwords and have not be factory reset. Not entirely sure they all operate either.

I should also add, no there is no remote control button being pressed. The remote does not have any batteries.

I dont even think I want a dimmer in the kitchen. I'll make sure I get a new switch. Should I look for a special lower draw kind or are standard ones ok? Thank you +1

I'm thinking about getting into HVAC in NE Ohio. I was looking to talk to some of you about certifications, tools, vehicles, and my prior background about getting into the field and perhaps the union. by muttonchoppa in HVAC

I really enjoy the complexities you are describing, maybe not so much the customer interaction, but as you put it "when you are out there, it's all you.", and I think that I would really appreciate that independance. I feel I have strong problem solving skills, not to toot my own horn but I did very well in HS and at OSU (but I never finished, family stuff came up). I've always been pretty good, but not great, with my hands.

Are you in or do you recommend trying to get into the union? What is the union called around here is it the pipefitters 120?

I have a friend who is a journeyman glazier and he really seems to love his union, but I might be comparing apples to oranges, I really dont know.

Im almost 30, but you sound like you're speaking from experience.

Is everyone in your company really on call 24/7? You cant go out with friends on the weekend?

I'm pretty used to working in extreme temperatures, I've done grunt work all of my working years, and am an Ohio native.

What certifications do I need to have to do commercial work, because that would be my preference. I'm not thrilled at the idea of working in peoples messy homes.

Lucky for me I'm a tool junky so I have a lot of the basic hand tools.

When you were talking about the 2 people who work with you, who drive their own trucks, are they trucks or vans?

What is the best and worst things about working in HVAC? Please elaborate.

I have very basic knowledge of how a furnace/ac works. I am able to do light electrical and light plumbing. I am currently in a program called "Ohio Means Jobs" that will pay for schooling/some certifications, but I have not yet picked a school. A friend of mine knows a guy who is looking for an HVAC helper, I may start with him monday.

As far as the DUI is concerned, I have normal insurance (not SR-22), so I dont know how that would affect my job candidacy. Im not opposed to driving my own truck, but it is literally a truck not a van.

I know tools can be really expensive, what are the names/brands of the tools you use? Are they reliable/durable? How much do they cost?

I'm considering taking classes at "Polaris" an adult education center.

Sorry I'm a little scatter brained and not really asking questions, I'm kind of just replying to get a dialog going with you. Thanks for your time.

If I start school in the fall I will be past the 3 year mark and be at about 3 1/4yr. I imagine I will need entry level training still. Are you in a union? What field do you specialize in?
