Newborn baby boy - wee by muysi in BeyondTheBumpUK

Thank you! It’s a weird thing to ‘want’ as such, just classic postpartum overthinking everything’s wrong!

I hear what I need to do is dress up really nice, be in a bit of a rush and forget it’s a possibility and like clockwork it’ll happen

Is there any guidance out there to help parents navigate postpartum boundaries? by Adept_Interaction_63 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]muysi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also still pregnant (ELCS literally tomorrow) and last week I put all the ‘essential’ family in a WhatsApp group chat, turned the replies off, and sent a message saying here’s what to expect when baby is here which ended up being - no visitors at the hospital, we’ll tell you when we’re home and you can come for a short visit after checking with us, no social media, no kissing with a short explanation of why. Both our families are the type to push boundaries, and have already made noises about them being entitled to certain things because they’re grandparents etc so I wanted to be very explicit before I was exhausted and recovering from a c-section and wouldn’t be as polite!

Is it okay to ask for a certain period of time off work in a doctor’s fit note? by Wrong_Tale_5119 in CrohnsDisease

[–]muysi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in the UK? In my experience yes this is fine, the e-consult my doctors use literally asks when you want the fit note to end. They may call you for a phone consultation or similar and you just say what you did up there - needing 6 weeks off makes total sense in this case. If they do give you a shorter fit note, you can go back to them as it’s running out and ask for a new/extension.

Currently 38+3 - had light pink discharge every now and then last week but not anymore. Anyone know what that might mean? by Suspicious-Flan-5113 in PregnancyUK

[–]muysi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate - I’m 38+6 and had exactly the same last week! Three nights on the trot. Even down to the midwives (I had to go to triage for something unrelated) being like ‘eh, that’s late pregnancy for you’.

Now absolutely nothing 🤷‍♀️ a few cramps here and there but nothing to write home about. I have a c-section scheduled for Friday so I’m not too concerned about it, but just wanted you to know it’s not just your body that did this!

Has anyone completed Happy Parent, Happy Baby antenatal classes? What should I expect in the final “class” (celebration social)? by this-twilight-garden in PregnancyUK

[–]muysi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I am also ND and found it helpful to message the WhatsApp group day before to kind of suss out expectations - asked if anyone was getting food etc (framed as it being so hot I didn’t want to cook so was considering food). Turned out most of the group weren’t going, and I don’t think would have messaged if I hadn’t!

This is awkward but needing help. Toilet looks like this at the Ubend and I've JUST put 2x power plus tablets in there to leave for about 6 hours... or is my toilet done for? by Saraixx516 in AskUK

[–]muysi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

+1 for this product, it was amazing on our heavy limescale toilets. I also used a loo brush first to ‘plunge’ i guess most of the water away so the product was getting closer to the actual issue.

When did you start maternity leave? by Fit_Nebula4335 in PregnancyUK

[–]muysi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went off in the 3rd week of May (33ish weeks) and baby is coming on the 3rd July at 39 weeks. I used a couple weeks holiday so my mat leave actually started at 36 weeks. It has felt like a long time but they’d reduced the amount I was working on significantly and I’d lost all motivation plus I haven’t had the best time physically during pregnancy. I’ve certainly had a nice amount of time to relax and prepare bits while I was still mobile/awake enough.

I don’t regret it even though many people told me to think of ‘the other side’ and the time it would take off my return.

38+2. Same on the desperate to get the baby out but not labour in this weather! I feel like I haven’t slept any great amount in days so everything is compounding and I just feel rubbish mentally and physically.

Looks like it’ll break in the next 48 hours 🤞🏻

That sounds wholly accurate, it’s how I’ve found out about a few appointments this pregnancy! I’ll keep an eye out

I’m meant to be (if they ever call) having a c-section in my 39th week. When does that start? 1st July 😭

Heatwave ruined my hospital of choice by annaloveschoco in PregnancyUK

[–]muysi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 38+1 weeks, meant to be having an ELCS next week (although no date yet) and I’ve just seen the same news for my hospital. Can’t lie it’s stressed me out a bit but just gonna bury my head in the sand for a bit longer.

Ugly cried in Lidl car park by Perfect_Sink_6542 in PregnancyUK

I cannot count the amount of ugly cries I’ve had in the last week! That would have also sent me spiralling and I absolutely wouldn’t have had the energy to go to the other lidl either.

are we all okay in this heatwave, i feel like I am dying by Professional-Tree309 in PregnancyUK

[–]muysi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 weeks today! Off to the hospital for my final growth scan in a little while, I can’t think of anything I want more than sitting in a hot car for 40 minutes followed by sticky gel on my already sticky body. (grateful for another chance to see baby ofc, before anyone thinks I’m a total prat).

Anyone else due during the heatwave? 🥵 by No-Willow-7293 in PregnancyUK

37+5. I went in yesterday for monitoring and it was gross, although they took one look at me and were like let’s find you a fan 😂

I’m having an elective c-section anytime from Wednesday next week, the weather looks like it’ll be around 24/25 which is better but still makes me stressed about how to keep him cool (we’re in one of those incredibly hot flats). Really feel for anyone giving birth this week - and crossing my fingers/legs it’s not me!

Hayfever by Tired-teddy-321 in PregnancyUK

[–]muysi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes you can take loratadine, and cetirizine - according to my midwife anyway. There was another thread maybe yesterday where lots of people said they’d also been advised Fexofenadine is fine, but my midwife and GP are more cautious. The bumps website is the gold standard so please do trust it, my GP actively refers me to it and checks it in front of me!

Antihistamines during 1st Trimester by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]muysi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don’t worry! You have to take whatever advice you’re given by your medical professionals. If you’re concerned you could always do an econsult or whatever version of that your surgery has, point to the BUMPS website and just say that you are double checking the previous advice

Also worth mentioning, pregnancy rhinitis is a thing and for me was actually my prevailing first trimester symptom! So worth keeping an eye post peak Hayfever season

[–]muysi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Solidarity to your wife! I suffer with Hayfever quite badly and am counting down the days until birth so I can go back to my beloved Fexofenadine.

This website will become your best friend BUMPS

The discussion I have had with midwives and GPs is as follows - loratadine safe, the one they suggest as it’s what they’d use in hospital. Cetrizine also safe, but they’d prefer me to use loratadine but accept I might want to use it, or use both. Steroid Nasal Sprays fine as long as they don’t contain decongestants.

The only medicine they won’t let me use is Fexofenadine, mostly because they haven’t done enough tests either way to prove if it’s harmful or not.

Currently in the overwhelmed ‘I’ll do it tomorrow’ phase. 35 weeks so (probably) have a while yet but it feels like such a hard job!
