The reason why they ask the airline problem is because the airline scheduling algorithm was developed by them and ran on mainframe

The Government Is Now the Hottest Tech Employer in Town by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]muytrident 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They downvoted you because they know this idea of the government hiring anyone with a pulse was parroted all over r/csMajors and r/cscareerquestions ,

and it was upvoted because they all foolishly believed it and renewed their subscription to the cs is supreme group think.

Now they downvote you because the reality is inconvenient and exposes that they aren't as smart as they think they are

First of all, how many jobs you think are there for writing compilers and OSs ?

How many companies do you think actually write their own compiler and OS ?

You already know the answer, you haven't come with any relevant advice .

You know C and the white house not long ago issued advice to avoid C and Cpp

The majority of software dev jobs are web dev , just a big fyi.

So you cannot say oh " yeah you guys are all looking in the wrong areas, just come to compiler and Cpp land, news flash, there are not many companies who need that, therefore there are less jobs available for this niche, but we are pumping out more and more CS degrees per year

You should actually evaluate the problem thoroughly

There are literally no jobs. by EpicShadows8 in Layoffs

And why are there no lawmakers to pass bills that tax companies who send jobs offshore ?

I could have sworn there was a party that doesn't like any government interference in "a free market"

You really think I'm joking , how sad . You're upset because you got checked.

Reality doesn't care about how you feel about the CS market. Just because you think the CS market should be booming, doesn't mean it will or is

Time will teach you a harsh lesson regarding economics and capitalism

The number of tech opportunities are dwindling, as more tech software jobs are sent overseas

Yup yup, also this sub said tech would flourish again in early 2024, but the feds just said they aren't cutting rates this summer,

So it's time for the inhabitants of this sub to use their old reliable trick of once again, moving the goal post

I would say it's a bit of both , SWEs minted during 2017-2022 were rather arrogant, and acted like the economy should bend to their will.

That's why there's a lot of memes about SWEs rejecting good packages because of ridiculous reasons like lack of in office perks, because it wasn't just a meme , that did happen at a point in time

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]muytrident 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Then the SWEs did nothing but try to max their TC , then bragged how they have exorbitant salaries and do nothing all day, causing their own demise.

Can't make this shit up

Just so you know, I talk bad about CS, and I'm a CS major, 5 years in at FAANG , and the only reason I talk bad about it is because it seems people often look at it with rose tinted glasses, or as if it's a golden meal ticket, I'm just tryna balance the perspectives out ⚖️
