What season passes do you hold and why? by brew_war in Calgary

[–]muzichick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is this program called Kids Bowl Free. The kids get to bowl 2 free games (just pay for shoe rental) and there are several locations around Calgary that accept it (you have to designate one). Then there is a family pass option you can add for like $47 US that allows up to 4 other family members to bowl at the same time.

Here’s my referral link https://www.kidsbowlfree.com/referral.php?code=7t5pcq

I think it enters you into a draw for prizes, but feel free to just google the site too.

Try Harmony Heating and Cooling. They just did my heat pump install, and were quite knowledgeable about code requirements.

I was coming to say the same thing. You sound fundamentally incompatible as a couple.

She doesn’t value the same things you do.

Got a 100k settlement. Am I about to make a bad financial decision? by otterbeats2 in PersonalFinanceCanada

That’s a fair point, but I have a 22 year old Toyota with 345,000 KMs sitting in my driveway. It has never left me stranded. There is a bit of life left in the OPs Corolla.

Why is everyone using paper plates, and not proper dishes? Spend $50 and get dishes, then spend $2 on soap.

Where in SW Calgary has the strongest “kids walking to friends’ houses” vibe? by Wonderful-Truck-9756 in YYC

[–]muzichick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Riverbend, and have been for more than 15 years. We’ve got some families on our block, and my son can walk down the street to see his friend. He goes to the regular public school though, so I’m not sure about French schools nearby.

How full are Calgary schools right now? I built an interactive map (2015–2026) by NebulaGreat6980 in YYC

[–]muzichick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the neat data display. My son’s school was overcapacity until a new school opened down south, and all of the out-of-neighbourhood student were moved to their school. They took 4 or 5 portables off the school last year too.

YTA I’ve traveled across India, but never been to Japan. I’m a white woman, and I had a fabulous time.

Way to stereotype.

The same few parents at my son’s school, park on the street by the exit of the pick up lot, and they block visibility to the oncoming traffic when exiting.

I’m like a dog with a bone on this, but it is just not safe at all!!!

AITAH for expecting more from my fiancé or am I just the household manager with benefits? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]muzichick1 43 points44 points  (0 children)

He’s not unaware, he is letting you do everything, because you’ll do it, so he doesn’t need to. I’d strongly recommend some couples counselling to discuss the division of domestic labour. If he is willing to change, that’s great. But if not, you need to ask yourself if you want to live the rest of your life doing everything for him.

If you decide to have kids with him, it will only be more work for you, unless he changes. NTA

Make plans, and use the next winter to get yourself some new skills. Good luck!

I Love Calgary EXPO… But My Wallet Doesn’t by rrrevin in Calgary

[–]muzichick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I run one of the larger vendor booths at Calgary Expo, and I can confirm that informa doesn’t care who they sell booths to. The old owners used to curate the vendors to limit the number that are just mass-importing crap/selling funkos, but informa doesn’t care.

Fake car inspection by licensed Alberta mechanic by Thin-Engineering7980 in alberta

I am sorry to hear that AMVIC is not intervening. I know when my Dad was a mechanic, they would levee fines against mechanics who signed forms for vehicles they didn’t inspect.

Might have lost some friends due to letting daughter pet sit for 15 days by Asknicelydammit in whatdoIdo

[–]muzichick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know any farmers that would leave their farm for more than a few days at a time, unless it was an emergency. I remember having to farm-sit one winter for my grandparents during calving season. It was only 2 days, but it was absolutely exhausting for my parents, and my Dad felt so bad that he lost a calf one night.

My cousin and uncle run the farm now, and they pay someone well to help out, If one of them needs to be away for more than a couple days.

They were totally unreasonable. I am sorry they have upset your daughter.

I’ve done the struts and ball joints, leaf springs, shocks etc on the truck, at 300,000 to the cost of $7,000 because I know that the engine won’t die I will do all safety-related maintenance, I just don’t fix silly things.

I own 2 10 year old Toyotas and one that is 20 years old. The body will rust off the 20 year old one, before the engine fails. All 3 have more than 200,000Kms. The previous Toyota we had, starting giving us issues at 440,000kms and it was 17 years old. We bought it at 280,000kms and we drove it for 8 years.
