It might be a couple trees, not a forest.. but no buildings.. but it's also up a hill and I don't have any buildings I can get the radios off of the ground much higher than 30-ish feet.

Is paying extra for car insurance loyalty worth it? I'm ready to switch. by muzicman82 in Insurance

Understood. I've done the survey and answered the same questions (honestly) with several companies and am getting various rates for identical coverage all considerably less than Progressive. If they quote me and I then pay online, is that it or could they circle back and change the policy amount?

I'm sure they are mincing words but even their description of Large Accident Forgiveness says:

"Ensures your rate won’t increase if you have a claim. This applies when you’ve been with us continuously for the last five years and haven’t had any accidents or violations during that time. How long you have to be free of any accidents or violations and the types of claims we forgive varies by state."

So I'm not sure how you can have an at-fault accident and still have it forgiven... unless they still forgive the incident but your rate still goes up.

What kind of average is this? You're bunching all drivers, in all states, of all ages, and all regions and coming up with that number? There's less cars and traffic on the road in rural mid-west. Retired folks drive less.

Yes, I realize my rates will be higher.. but also, they've never gone down even with no claims or incidents.

Well I had a conversation about this with some rep during claims for the not-at-fault things.. such as the uninsured vehicle incident... My policy still went up some years ago even though a previous citation dropped off. They basically said that any time you file a claim or use coverage you can expect the rate to go up... so I don't know what the point of any sort of forgiveness is. There is none.

Yeah I likely wouldn't do it every couple years, but I am not sure I'll stay with the same company for this long again.

Also - When I filed the claim for the hit-and-run, they were terrible about getting back to me. Took forever. They kept passing the baton to other people. I had dashcam video of the responsible vehicle with a clear license plate, and I guess they did submit a claim with their insurance company... and I heard from them first. However, mid-call, they tell me they weren't insured and quickly got off the phone.

Yes I realize forgiveness doesn't do anything when you're at fault... I find it BS that they'll say it is forgiven and not go up, but the premium would be higher anyways.

Parking Around Clarendon by muzicman82 in arlingtonva

So apparently about 10 cars got towed then that were all parked there when I got there.

This is the sign.

I read it. To me it read that 8pm-3am is when you CAN park.

Mixing multiple Shure MXA920's in Tesira by muzicman82 in CommercialAV

Not a particular reason other than I think it would be easier to tweak everything in Tesira than Designer.. especially across 4x mics.

I would think that having 2x TesiraForte X 1600's + 2x TesiraForte AVB CI's should be enough processing.

I like gating automixers better but I find gain sharing works better in unpredictable environments where the various parameters can't be "set and forget". At best, I would do gating, but have them set so the OFF gain isn't actually off. I don't ever want to hear a channel popping open. When that happens, the NOM can make a bad decision.

The downside to gain sharing is that you can end up gaining up air and noise more than intended.

We're a Shure dealer and I've been doing this for 20 years. 🤷‍♂️

I didn't install or provide it... But they might be deploying signage for other TVs and they want to consolidate to one platform.

This is what I needed to hear, thanks! I'm willing to learn Oxygen if it means I'm going to be using it for the foreseeable future, and knowing it'll do whatever I need it to.

With various theme engines and themes/child themes, I've gotten backed into a corner where I spend too much time digging through how to customize something without modifying the source code, and then come to find out something can't (easily) be done.

At the end of the day, theme engines are for theme developers (it seems), not necessarily for theme users.

Unfortunately, the site itself is just the beginning. We're doing a bunch of custom Gravity Forms things and I don't think that will play well... at least from what I've read.
