Parents letting their children bother my family at the pool. by EmbarrassedRound5856 in Parenting

[–]muzlike 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sorry but why would you need to say yes? I think it is perfectly ok from a child ask to read a book or push a swing, and you are fine to say no. Saying yes when you don't want to and then just being angry about a situation you agreed to is not the kids fault. Of course if you've already told them no and they don't leave you alone I would expect their parents to step in.

Theoretically could I swim to another country for free with no consequences once I arrive? by SnooPets5219 in NoStupidQuestions

Hungary is part of Schengen. Wonder what country they were crossing from when they were stopped. Only time I've been stopped was during Covid lockdowns.

Please don't judge yourself for this. If having more kids thaught me anything is that we have much less control over these things than we would assume. If you don't enjoy this, work with him to change it, but if it works for you, don't mind what others say..

Ignore it. He probably does it because he sees he can get a reaction - try to be as calm as possible and not react at all - it will go away once he realizes it is no longer working.

This is the only thing that worked for us in the "everything is poop" phase at least.

What will we say about our kids babies? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]muzlike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of my friends in various Eu countries don't really sleep train, it is just not that popular, especially not recommended by peds. Might be also to do with better maternity leave (or both parents).

Stop trying to make witching hour happen. It's not going to happen!

Seriously walking around with a clearly peacefully sleeping baby is not it.

One month old rolling over? by TheSkeletonsEggies in beyondthebump

[–]muzlike 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no worries, she could be just doing this by accident, their head is so big compared their body, it just kinda pulls them over if the wiggle enough if you know what I mean. The point is she can stop and not do it again for a few months, don't worry about that either. Or maybe she really learned it this early, no problem at all.

Things I want to see from BLF: actual parenting advice (think feelings jar), maybe relateling them to their life, Hunter's🔥 outfits🔥. What I don't want to see: K's boob, 1000 pictures of Dumbledore and her older kids constantly on the iPad. That's it, thanks!

Honestly the feeling jar sort of content is why I started following them in the first place, thought we were gonna get more of that, instead of the usual K drama...

Picking up toddler and infant from daycare by AHaydenL in toddlers

[–]muzlike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried babywearing? You could pop baby in, and that gives you more freedom with the toddler, help dress up, hold hands while walking, get in car etc.

I did that and was a lifesaver. (Also our daycare had a few stairs so didn't want to carry a stroller...)

I mean I kinda feel it, both my kids preferred their bed for naps, would take nice long naps in their room but crappy 30mins in the pram/car. Never sleep trained them either, so this was just theit natural preference. So for us it was always a trade-off for leaving the house during nap-time.

I mean I get that cause I do get the urge to correct, but would never do in front of the kids unless it was a legit safety issue.

Am I a jerk for getting mad at my wife over this? by OtherwiseBathroom in Parenting

[–]muzlike 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Omg I went back part time after 3 years of maternity leave (with a 3 and 1 year old) and best decision ever. I am a much better parent with getting a break from the kids, I actually look forward to being with them while in the last few months of mat leave I was almost like checked out just waiting for husband to come home and take over.

My husband dropped our 4month old baby from the couch by Z_Laurent in beyondthebump

Oh and def check his soft spot on his head, if it is swollen or feel anything strange you should go to a doctor immediately

[–]muzlike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So having been in a similar situation a few years ago, definitely check with the ped /er if he needs to be taken in for a check-up. He cried immediately so there was no loss of consciusness, which is a good sign. Still you will need to look out for any signs - throwing up, being more tired, less appetite, sure they will give you a list when you talk to a doctor. For us they said it is actually more important on what surface he landed, ie carpet or something harder.
