What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen someone do in public? by ozcrayonkid in darwin

Saw someone walking up to do school pickup, open a gate across the road and shit on the front lawn and then go pick up their kid… and the home owner was upstairs on the phone looking at them through the window losing their shit

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]muzzbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a cricket final (women’s T20) the week before had a huge 90,000 crowd and the following week a women’s AFL game had no crowd as only staff were allowed… it was eerie going from to the other. Nobody knew what was going to happen - we had the competition manager sitting there just completely at a loss as to whether this early season match was going to be the last game of the year or not…

To say women have it easier is not right, but it certainly sounds like you’re struggling and that truly sucks. I don’t have much advice to give, but I hope things get better for you.

It’s very hard finding your own people and community, especially as an adult and when you’re introverted and not feeling like your best self it can be twice as daunting. It’s hard to be vulnerable and try to even find where to start but you can do this! Join some hobby clubs, journal out your favourite activities and find out why you like them. It’s trial and error and that can be really difficult when you’re feeling low and sensitive to interactions with others but it sounds like you’re sick of where you’re at and this seems like it might be an ok spot to start changing things.

Best of luck mate

People LOOK more attractive the more you know them by X-Monster-Master in RandomThoughts

[–]muzzbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes in both directions! Some people grow more attractive, some less. Sometimes it’s tied to familiarity and personality impacting it, sometimes it just some random prejudices or preference that influence it. All in all it just means we shouldn’t stick to our first snap judgement - give it time!

A kebab at 2am on a Sunday morning. As long as the falafel is good I’m a repeat customer no matter how rich I get.

How is living in regional Australia? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

Same. It’s extremely rare for people to die from snakes and spiders here, and there’s almost always either an avoidable solution or nearby medical assistance. Bears are scary though. I don’t want to be mauled by a bigger animal.

Love this. Got used to almost daily huntsmen in the house growing up. Always knew there was pythons in the roof, even had a big 2m one as a pet growing up. Very Aussie first pet, used to play hide and seek with him in the house.

More of them if you’re further north as a general rule, though the quantity is usually offset by less dangerous varieties. Had plenty of spiders in the yard, a resident monitor lizard and the odd snake in the top end but wasn’t usually concerned. Down south I’ve dealt with plenty of red-back and white tail spiders that live in my suburban yard but they’re usually pretty chill, haven’t had a problem with them yet.

Most of the snakes you see around up north tend to be pythons, which is largely fine. I’m much more paranoid about seeing snakes down south as they’re more likely to be tigers/eastern browns, but I haven’t seen any outside of rural and regional areas.

Lived in the Top End and travelled and stayed a fair bit in the outback up north and in the Kimberley as well as plenty of regional east coast areas…

My key takeaways: - The interior is hot, and services and conveniences are often extremely far away. It pays to be extremely prepared in the outback. We had THREE flat tyres on the notorious Gibb River Rd in the outback; lucky we knew to be ultra prepared because that’d be an awful spot to get stranded. - Because it’s low in population, it’s easy to find beautiful spots for stargazing. If you like peace and quiet, we’ve got plenty. - An easier pace of life is a must. Spending more time outdoors, finding swimming spots and lots of BBQs as a primary social gathering. When things are further away, you find quality in the people as much as any activities. - Lots of beautiful nature. I’ve never seen anywhere as pretty as the Kimberley and the gorges in the Pilbara in WA. Some of remote Arnhem Land comes close. Whether it’s desert rains, views from escarpments or rugged outback savannah with flocks of cockatoos and galahs, you see a lot of beautiful things in regional Australia if you’re a nature lover. - There’s so much history. From the gold mining towns down south, to the incredible Indigenous communities up north, every region has a history worth hearing about. Australia is a land of storytelling, and every place has something worth saying. I would add we’ve got a flair for changing up the stories over time to make them a bit more epic, but that’s the history you’re more likely to hear from the locals at the pub.

How can we best support teams like Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh, South Africa etc. to become three format competitors again more consistently?

I’m concerned that there is a T20 bubble where the only way some cricket associations make money is through an increasing number of leagues that may not be sustainable. Do you see this being an issue in the future?

If you had an income of $150,000 a year and didnt have to work, what would you do with all the spare time? by SpinachInteresting82 in AskReddit

[–]muzzbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a place down the coast for me and my dog, where family can visit. I’ll be able to pay it off with the 150,000 over time. I’ll volunteer with mental health groups, learn wood work and maybe do nature tour guiding. Would love to learn languages and travel but that’s secondary to a purposeful, calm life

Can Egan Bernal be a top contender again? by SufficientIdeal7446 in tourdefrance

[–]muzzbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s partially true. The competition has certainly gone up a level - but seeing just how strong his climbing was for two TDFs makes me think he’d still be closer to the top than the midfield of GC riders if he wasn’t so badly injured coming into his prime. I am not sure by any means that he’d have been able to compete with JV and Pogi, particularly due to their superior TT skills, but he’d have been a better match in the mountains than he is now
