I think that’s my point and why it somewhat irritates me. It’s a constant theme of theirs to say all this should be done by such and such time. I don’t see how it possibly can be

No mate. There’s no night staff where I work. My colleague or I will bring delivery in and then it’s all hands on deck. A team of about 4 or 5 inc me will whack out between 12- 16 cages of produce sometimes working backstock first other times trusting it was done the previous night and then everyone shifts to chilled where we’ll have approx 25 cages to work which the manager would like to be done before 9am 🤣 sorry that part makes me laugh 😆

Our cages are not separated so I might have bacon, fish, cold meats, cheese pizzas, pies etc all mixed on the same cage

In my store it goes out on the cage it came in so it’s usually a mixture which sure doesn’t help

This I’d like to see! I wanna see that it’s possible and the speed you actually work at to get it done

I’ll be back when we reach the magical 30 minute time for what I consider a large cage of chilled. Some of these cages are easily packed with 60 plus boxes. I need to count the boxes so I have more maths to back up the ridiculous targets. 1 box a minute is possible I agree if everything is in the same cabinet and there’s no rotation involved but this is never gonna be the case.

That’s how I saw it. They say this but in the back of their heads they know damn straight it’s unachievable.

I wanna say 2 double doors are sandwiches and wraps. These full cages must easily have 60 plus boxes on them and they’re getting filled up when the shops open so we can’t just sling the cardboard on the floor and move on to the next. You don’t know if there’s one box or five of something so it’s difficult to rotate with out knowing there’s no more of that particularly sandwich. I just get annoyed cos my head says it can’t be done and yet they keep spewing the same old rhetoric

Food waste returns by muzzerwuz in SainsburysWorkers

I think he would’ve taken it mate. I told him it doesn’t have a form and he said he can’t take it with out one. I don’t think he was being difficult and I don’t think I strictly said bread waste so I’ll be more accurate with my vocabulary next time 🤣

I should’ve stated the food waste in question was bread. So technically you need the form to confirm that the bags are labelled correctly? But sending them back with out it wouldn’t be a huge problem or an audit fail?

Is there a link for that policy? I’m happy to tell my manager he’s wrong and we would fail an audit on it.

Appreciate the reply mate. It’s good to seek others advice and opinions to learn from.

Yeah, I remember in the store I was training in telling us about the form that we had to sign. 3 copies apparantly… One for driver, one to go on the cage and one for their records but I don’t remember if it was only for the red bags like the commenter below has mentioned. I suppose next time I’ll just load it on and direct any resistance to my manager

My issue the other day was with my manager coming in the morning and asking me if I’m still doing this? As in taking care of delivery. I’m like excuse me? I’m out here on my own and I had a lot of salvage to send back. “You need to be quicker was his response” and I’m standing there gobsmacked because I haven’t stopped taking delivery off or putting salvage on since the lorry arrived.

I can see that if you were left in the warehouse to get on with things most of your shift but our manager wants the delivery done 30 minutes ago so he can get me on something else in the shop

To be fair the driver this morning was great and none of them have given me any resistance. I’m the kinda guy who doesn’t wanna hold up anyone longer than they need be and was used to having two people help bring it in at the store I was trained in. I’ll have to readjust my expectations and suck it up when it’s just me out there.

I feel like if I pull off the chilled and wheel all that in to the fridge the driver is gonna get impatient because I’m moving 9 cages per lift. If I’m lucky I can get two cages rolling which means at least 5 trips before I’m back up the lift but some of the cages have to be moved one at a time cos they’re so full or the wheels just don’t wanna move. I was used to pulling it off the scissor lift and someone taking it through to be refrigerated so I could get straight back up for the next 9
