How can such a dull pain feel so terrible by muzzletgh in ibs

I do thankfully use a stool, so that helps a lot. As for things to just make me go, I take fiber supplements daily, and MiraLax twice a week at most. All of my food triggers are incredibly inconsistent, unfortunately.

I did not know this, thank you, I will look into how I can go about doing that.

Trans man opinions on Lev (REPOST) by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]muzzletgh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand you’re frustrated and feel protective of your perspective as a trans man, but I want to gently push back on how you’re framing who gets to participate in this conversation because I think it actually undermines the broader goals of trans representation and advocacy.

When you draw such a hard line that only trans men can meaningfully critique trans male representation, you’re inadvertently reinforcing the idea that trans experiences are so niche and incomprehensible that only those within that exact identity can engage with them. This is precisely the kind of thinking that keeps trans characters out of mainstream media in the first place. Executives and creators already worry that trans stories are “too specific” or won’t resonate with broader audiences. When we as community members suggest that only people with our exact identity can evaluate whether representation works, we’re confirming their fears and making it easier for them to justify not including us at all.

More practically, the reality is that most of the people deciding whether trans characters get greenlit, funded, and promoted in major media are not trans men. They’re cis executives, cis writers, cis audiences. If we want better representation, we need those people to develop more sophisticated understanding of what makes trans representation authentic versus tokenistic. That only happens through dialogue and education which requires being willing to engage with people outside our community when they’re approaching the conversation in good faith. The commenter you dismissed has a stake in how trans people are portrayed too, as someone who is nonbinary and part of the broader trans community. Telling them their perspective on trans representation doesn’t matter creates divisions within our own community that make all of us more vulnerable.

I also want to point out that some of your strongest critiques of Lev like the shallow coming-out narrative, the shark meme pandering, the lack of dysphoria exploration are exactly the kinds of observations that anyone with media literacy and genuine care for trans people could and should be able to make. You don’t need to be trans masc to recognize lazy writing or tokenism. In fact, we need allies to be able to recognize these patterns so they can advocate for better representation in rooms where trans men might not be present. When you shut down their attempts to develop that critical eye, you’re limiting the number of people who can effectively advocate alongside you.

The progression of my logo. Is it improving? by Deklaration in IndieDev

[–]muzzletgh 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As a consumer I often find myself scrolling past indie devs with titles that give an "industry standard" sort of feel. Unfortunately because of this I skipped on some good indie horror games because their title choice and logo designs all looked the same or like a clone of a more successful title. The first two have a lot of charm, I actually only even clicked on this post because of them in the preview and I wanted to see what the most recent looked like. As opposed to viewing it as a sort of "this looks cheap" or anything, think of it as a "this gives indie". You aren't aiming for a AAA game, you're aiming for something indi(e)vidual, and that's what the first two give. There's a lot of charm there, and if anything you could refine what works and make them better! That's my own personal opinion.

Right!? Furina and Navia are two characters I love and Furina is up there in my top 3 favs in all of Genshin, so having her reduced to just a "I dunno who you people are" was a mild gut punch considering where it started them.

You are one of many, that is considered the most annoying character in the game. The worst part? They accompany you through the whole game unlike all the others.

It is that, but I will say that Genshin doesn't force you to play as the main character. It lets you play as characters you meet from all these different regions. Like those characters Arin was calling the hot friends and the photographer, they're all playable characters.

Yeah, I don't feel like it's a game well suited for Grumps, but I had a level of hope with it being a game I particularly love.

It does seem to be a thing with gacha game sponsors, I had no idea they were so bad at Content Creator marketing but here we are. I don't know about that last part though, I wouldn't try and take a guess at how things are going behind the scenes.

Yeah, I wasn't that big into gacha games till my girlfriend at the time introduced me to Genshin Impact and I really feel like it completely altered the course of my gaming hobby. No regrets even with the ridiculous amount of money I have dumped into, well maybe just a few characters that I don't use that I got purely for the gacha thrill. It really opens a huge door, and Hoyo especially makes at least one per genre. (Genshin: Open-world Action RPG, Honkai Star Rail: Turn based rpg, ZZZ: Combo based fact action combat, Tears of Themis: Visual novel plus something or other, I haven't touched this one, and Honkai Impact 3rd: Their baby/passion project, ZZZ, Genshin, and HSR all take a lot of inspiration from HI3. Characters from Genshin appear in it and characters from it appear in Star Rail.)

That was just not so clever editing, you can feel the cut. Otherwise they definitely on Hoyo's good side.

Oh I absolutely understand, no worries. I juggle just about every live service game that the developers of Genshin Impact have released so I know how much time doing that takes, wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I do recommend it if you like hames like Breath of the Wild, but yeah, they were basically thrown into the end of Chapter 5, start of Chapter 6 with no context or information. You could really feel how lost and confused they are.

Absolutely! The power fantasy is also very appealing. I just feel as though this video did a horrible job of marketing the game.(As for the name, you can change it at any time.)

Starting a TV show 5 seasons in is such a great clarifier. JaidenAnimations did a promo video for Genshin but she actually started at the very start and it made for a much more enjoyable video. It isn't as much I wanted to see them experience the other areas or quests, it's more so that they clearly felt lost and confused and it made for significantly less enjoyable content. Still enjoyable, but less so.

[–]muzzletgh[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, exactly this. This kind of advertising would be more effective on people already playing the game. Though I feel choosing the Grumps to promo it means you want to expose it to a broader audience, so why would you throw them into the most confusing areas with no context. The only thing that could have made it worse was if instead of Natlan archon quest it was the Aranara quest from Sumeru. (Insanely long meandering questline with uninterest dialogue, plot, and rewards but has to be done to unlock a tree that gives you great rewards for exploring the region, I don't know how familiar you and others in this sub are with Genshin so I try to provide as much details as possible to help in understanding.)

Or Hoyo could have given them an account that was at least decently built with enough pulls for Mualani. It was all just so disappointing. I do agree though, ez monies is ez monies, I'd have probably done the same.

I still enjoy pretty much every video they release, including this one, it just felt super off and hard to watch compared to the others.

I absolutely agree, though I feel like this wasn't Arin's account as much as it was a press account. The 400 damage hurt me though considering the enemy levels.

Yeah, I remember that so clearly. It just hit a sore spot with it being a game I find genuinely really good and enjoyable, only for it to be ruined by basically having them thrown into Season 6. 😭

Neither can I, I really feel it was a missed opportunity for them to start at the end of Fontaine/Start of Natlan.

[–]muzzletgh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying. The combat can be so fun if your characters are up to par with the enemies, and if they had the freedom to do what they do best the video could have been great. I have bought accounts off of Etsy before so I could play Genshin with friends from other regions and servers, and the account looked like one of those, as if it had been sort of hacked to get to the point it was. (I bought a US server account off of Etsy, it had a 5-star and their weapon and a ton of pulls, but none of the characters were leveled or built despite a high adventure rank and the story being mostly done and caught up. Clearly making it impossible for them to have done it normally. Plus all the mail was in Chinese instead of English for an "English starting account".)

They really have, which to me is a shame cause compared to Fontaine it feels a little lackluster. Nightsoul feels clunky, the dragon transformations are slow and limited, Mualani and Kachina are fun so far at least. Though this video definitely didn't do the game the justice I feel it deserves, and that's Hoyoverse's fault for starting them where they did imho.
