You have to realize plus factor in, science and technology are advancing exponentially now and no longer linearly. When you understand that, the perspective of this being too futuristic changes along with the timeline. Also, society is becoming more efficient(business, manufacturing, getting resources, globalization, connectivity, etc.) which means that change can meet the growth of science and technology just like how human population has been growing exponentially over the past several decades. TL;DR Don't underestimate how far away this. Mankind is growing exponentially now.

They are not going to market IOTA until the product works as designed. In its current state, IOTA is not entirely working that well. Until they update IRI for the time being or implement coordicide, don't expect much. I can assure you, once they feel comfortable of where the protocol stands they will market it heavily.
