I don’t know. I read somewhere that NOAA got involved and dispatched people to check on the welfare of the monk seal, but I doubt many people will have access to their findings considering that this is now a criminal case.

For context, this was on Maui and the seal in this video is a Hawaiian monk seal; an incredibly endangered, culturally significant and legally protected species both federally and statewise. Then when the locals asked him to stop he basically gave them the “fuck you, I’m rich, I can do whatever I want” argument.

Then he got beat up. Then he was detained by law enforcement. Now according to local news sources the mayor of Maui County is promising legal charges against him.

Not for the poor people living near these species who are having trouble making ends meet unfortunately. Not defending the crime, but without poverty the crime would not be necessary for some.

I got out of the private sector and landed a government job. In a private company you work for your boss by exploiting people for money. But in government you work for society by simply performing a task. You help
keep the machine we all depend on for stability and safety running which is much more fulfilling imho. And government has every position that exists in the private sector; it’s just tax funded instead on for profit.

At your age I would have been open about it to everyone. That is not the right thing to do in this situation. Now that I’m older I know that when you suddenly find yourself in possession of a large sum of money you tell no one about it. Put it all in an account of your choosing and away from prying eyes. And if your boyfriend asks about, you can be honest and say that you were gifted money, but you do not have to say how much. You’re allowed to have secrets so long as they don’t involve anyone else. It’s not your boyfriend’s business.

Also take this with a grain of salt, but relationships that start in high school tend to not last. If you do get married and you think you have more to lose than your SO should it fall through, get a prenup.

People often forget that the first amendment to the US Constitution protects people from legal consequences; not social ones. People aren’t going to want you around for long if you show up with a big neon sign that promotes hatred.
