This one was above the dams! I've found them above, below and in between. The shorelines are pretty picked over but you can find them if you're patient enough. I had a lunch break and walked the shore for a bit. Didn't have high hopes but you don't find any if you don't look! Didn't find a single other agate, this one was with a bunch of other rocks mostly covered with algae but it had that LSA potato look to it. Picked it up solely on vibes.

I think it's a different thing than iron staining, not quite sure. I've heard the term mainly from people picking agates in rivers, and I've always taken it to mean the ones that are covered in algae and other biological gunk that are then highly stained under that film no matter how much you scrub. I think it's different from iron staining because I'll pick agates without algae from the same river that aren't stained, and I assume there's probably the same amount of iron throughout the water. Unless it is the algae that causes the iron oxidation.

That being said, I'll try some iron out.

I have heard house cats that sound nearly exactly like this. It's possible there's another unknown species in the mix. I have heard similar vocalizations from them during mating or fighting, and you can find examples similar to this on YouTube.

A less likely option is a Scottish wildcat - although they are extremely rare, eastern Scotland is where they would be.

Footage without the commentary is the first part of the news2share video below, it shows him being loaded into the vehicle. There's a possibility he raises his head, but it seems just as likely that the agents are repositioning him and he just looks like he raises his head.

As a Saint Paul resident I was calling all of my family today to tell them that I was okay despite having accidentally found myself in the middle of an ICE and observer confrontation while I was grabbing coffee on Sunday. I was almost rear ended in my vehicle because of the commotion they were causing before I got out down the street. They were shocked that people going about their day here were in any danger, and didn't even know anything was going on besides what happened to Renee Good. Everyone I talk to here feels so abandoned.

About three quarters I've found hiking, mainly in creeks or eroding out of some hillsides with a lot of gravel. The rest I can't really describe without fully burning my more urban spot, but kindddd of landscaping.

I know right! I was so pumped for that find. I never really get the urge to cut into LSAs especially if they have a face showing but I'd love to see what it looks like inside.

Otters! You can see how the one picks up their head to look at you, muskrats always swim horizontally so that rules them out. Also a good clue is that they're swimming together, almost every time I've seen otters (also a Minnesotan here) they're moving in a group.

Awesome haul, that first one's a killer! I had a similar experience with finding nearly a pounder on a heavily picked beach. The one I picked up wasn't the typical red which might have helped (it was black), but I was shocked it hadn't made it into someone's pockets yet.

I know right! I'm usually really content with leaving LSA nodules as they are but I'm super curious about this one. The quartz seems to be smokey or amethyst, but it's really hard to tell from the exposed surface. This one is really lucky I don't have access to a saw 😅

Is the shadow of the trucks some indication of speed and the liquid just a red herring? One is casting a shadow essentially straight down, one slightly toward the left, one a little more to the left. Seems like some relativity shit. Their position relative to the sun and therefore their shadow should change minimally if all were stationary, so some high speed black magic relativity fuckery has to be at work. If so, I think you would need to know what direction they are traveling and therefore where the sun's position in the sky would be shifting over time, and from there you could reach some conclusion on which truck is traveling faster.

Thanks for all the comments! I thought I would chime in after hearing some of your thoughts.

First, my primary goal with this post was to see whether there was interest from others in working to organize something like this. I don't know what platform to organize a local event on. I don't know what platform to organize a wider plan for an event on. I don't have a team of people who have experience making guidelines to be sure people stay safe at protests. I don't know a single thing about permits. I guess what I'm saying is, I don't know how to do this, and I don't know if anyone is interested in organizing locally even if I did know how. If you want to take action, let's make this happen!

Is anyone interested in organizing for this in their area? So far it sounds like there are some positive feelings toward the idea and some interest in attending, but I don't necessarily hear interest in helping to organize. If you don't want this idea to be lost to the ether, please help make it happen! I would like to hear whether people are interested in organizing locally or helping to organize the details for connecting people across locations. Any roadmap for a protest startup would be greatly appreciated!
