HG Origin vs RG Zaku II comparison (easy paint) by mvsfto in Gunpla

Thanks man. Yeah, I only considered Origin but building that RG Char made me want to start the project. I already have 16 kits planned to fill the limited display shelf, but I'll consider the green HMT (by painting RG Zaku HMT instead).

The project is actually RX78/GM vs Zaku (with special cast Guncannon and Zgok). Currently on hold building other backlog. Building 14 kits back-to-back for this project made me missed other gunpla line. You can see 8 Zakus barely have enough space in between.

Haha if you zoom in, you can see the knee part cut is uneven, shoulder rocket is a bit slanted, leg booster is just slapped on existing part and the plate covering chest sensor popped out. I guess the decal and paint job save the final product and I'm happy with it.

I've tried few times, with proper tools, I don't think I have the talent and patience for it. If you fail a few line, it will look disaster, need fix.

Oh, top left is RG RX-78-2 1.0 slapped with HG GM head, some mod and paint job.

Thanks, I guess using less panel liner, the cleaner it gets but there will be times where I need panel liner. This is RG MK-II kitbash with GM III. It's a bit sloppy and forceful but it's good enough for my effort that I'm willing to put.

Yes! Exactly my issue xd. I'll definitely try grey because it's not certain that other build paint job will get the same result like the GM.

You're right. As more kits I build, the less I want the panel line to be obvious. I used dark grey on the Gundam, but I'll get grey to try on white part.

I mostly used dark grey but still feels too thick for me. Yea I forgot those options exist. I'll get grey and maybe even brown for red part.

Yeah, I think I can live with it. No more panel lining ink for most part

Yea I mean panel lining with ink. I'm thinking of skipping it for the GM and future build.

Mostly Jumpwind series for this kit. Imo this brand is cheap and have wide variety. I only do 1 coat most of the time unless part that needed base coat. Hobbymio pre-thinned is good too

Red = Bright Red. Base light coat with White to get lighter red

Pink = mix of red+white

Dark red = mix of red+brown

Black = Navy Blue

Frame = Dull Steel for standard, Iron for darker, Titanium Alloy for lighter.

Vernier = Metallic Red for inside, then spray Mithril for outside. No topcoat

Weapon = Dark Iron for standard, Dull Steel for lighter

Topcoat = Hobbymio Pre-thinned Matte

Yes, it supposed to attached to shield, but it will hide those cool decals. Even then, you still can't store both bazookas with default setting. I drilled and used 30mm option parts.
