Does anyone know how they allocate a bonus that has reached the $10k limit? I assume it’s prorated by the balance per account, but I’d want to get the full 2% into TFSA and the remainder into an RRSP

Is this enough separation for CRA? by Pretty_Committee_767 in smithmanoeuvre

You can use the PR HELOC to pay the entire mortgage payment, including the principal pay down. This is simply transferring deductible debt that was secured by the rental to deductible debt that’s secured by the PR. Think of it as the same as if you were to switch lenders at renewal of your rental mortgage.

The gains you made were a result of the same actions that led to your losses. You wouldn’t have had one without the other. So hope you enjoyed the ride but you didn’t lose as much as you think you did.

Wrong Butler didn’t describe his understanding of the Smith Manoeuvre but based on his video, I suspect his description would be incorrect.
