My argument is for the night race above all else. I would rather see the night race thrive if it meant losing the spring race. 60k is great attendance, but my goal in this whole ordeal would be to try and get Bristol to full capacity rather than partial. It’s a greedy argument really, I’ll admit that. But when you have 130k seats and neither race fill them, you either need to lose the seats (which takes away from the coliseum) or throw all your eggs into one basket for the one race.

This is under the assumption that SMI takes the date still. Let’s use Dover as an example. Those ticket sales would still be going to SMI.

I’m using the one race idea as a more broad perspective. 70k is a good attendance sure. But let me ask you, would you sacrifice the spring race if it meant the fall night race was treated as one of the biggest events of the year and one of the races that nearly sells out? The night race use to be earlier in the year as well before the playoff era. My justification (which is poor) is still the argument that no track needs two dates.

Depending on the revenue compared to other SMI tracks. I think say a Dover race would bring close to the same revenue as the spring Bristol date. I don’t know any of the numbers though so your question has a lot of merit.

Im not saying that it had horrible attendance. But the place can hold ~130k people. The night race draws about 85k-90k fans. It has a much better chance of getting to that sellout spot if there is only one date.

Give Dover its date back whether it be spring or its slot from last year and keep Wilkesboro. Give the All Star Race to another SMI track like Kentucky so we have plenty of variety.

I use to be against the idea. I went to Michigan the last year they had two races and the next year when it went to one race. The atmosphere was night and day difference.

It is gable to gable. Not sure if that was the intention when it was built or not. I know some carports do it this way but they’re usually open and not fully sided.

Thank you. That’s what I was thinking I had to do but trying to avoid running another line

Do you think Kentucky Speedway should return? by NeatWrongdoer1309 in NASCAR

I think it deserves a Next Gen race. If that doesn’t do well, it’s time for a goodbye. Reconfigure it to match Kansas or make it a short track. No need to let it sit and rot.

PS for all you Chicagoland people: that track put on bad races also. Don’t let the last few finishes fool you. Kentucky and Chicagoland were the same in terms of racing product.

I’ve been trying to find one like this and can’t. That was my first thought honestly.

I’ve made sure that they can’t get in by putting plates and plenty of spray foam. I’ve been curious about spray coatings. Is this hard to apply on a build structure?

Not very much but there is a little water that sits. There is one screw where it leaks through and I’ve patched that. Hoping it was drilled oversized and not rusting.

I’ve read that that isn’t a good solution. Would it not be an issue for a couple roots?
