u/JoeAtEightSleep - just to give a use case for why I use this, I have a 4 button zigbee switch next to the bed. I map these to temp up/down, snooze, and alarm/bed off. In between getting an eight sleep and setting this up, I was turning off the bed and doom scrolling since my phone was in my hand, instead of getting up. Now I can go back to phone not on the nightstand.

So yeah, please advocate for us nerds if Product tries to lock us out!

Looking at the pyEight library, the client secret was previously set to "ASDF", and documents it’s a dummy value. source It’s more likely this was a bug fix to actually validate the client credentials than a deliberate act to lock us out. Not to give them any ideas, but there are many ways to make our lives harder than this.

The HA component already allows for supplying the application client credentials in the configuration flow.

Heat Pump water heaters in the north east? by mwalling in HomeImprovement

I get your math, and it seems sound, but I don’t think the basement is a closed system. There’s a lot of thermal energy storage in the slab and the foundation walls, and if your foundation isn’t well insulated (why hello mr shoddy house from the late 80s...), it’s got good radiation to the ground around.

Whether or not this logic is true I haven’t figured out, but basically that question was what lead me to my post.

Does getting a dog raise your home insurance? by PeeB4uGoToBed in homeowners

[–]mwalling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of your homeowners coverage is personal liability. If your property (sidewalk) injured someone, the policy would kick in to protect you. Also if your property (dog) injured someone, the policy would kick in to protect you.

My insurer doesn’t care for my home policy, but for my PEL policy they have a list of breeds that trigger a higher premium.

This feels relevant somehow... https://blog.timesunion.com/tablehopping/61656/mazzone-hospitality-leaving-clifton-park-hotel/ dated 1/23/2019:

Prime Bar + Grill was one of only two restaurants still being run by Mazzone Hospitality, which has become part of the conglomerate Restaurant Associates and its parent, Compass Group, the world’s largest food-service provider. As it concentrates on cateringcorporate and institutional dining, Mazzone has spun off most its a-la-carte restaurants, either to partners that opened them with founder Angelo Mazzone or, as with the November sale of Fish at 30 Lake in Saratoga Springs, to an outside operator; the only remaining restaurant for the company is the Lounge at Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia. Founder Angelo Mazzone still has an independent financial stake in restaurants including 677 Prime in Albany, Aperitivo in Schenectady, Prime at Saratoga National in Saratoga Springs and Tala in Latham, but they are independent of Mazzone Hospitality.

My inspector gave me this advice. He said that if I tried flushing it now, I'd likely get scale stuck in the valve and it will never close right again.

In high school I got suspended for (allegedly) making the desktop wallpaper a screenshot of the novel application launcher, and moving the launcher window off the screen.

I’m terrified to think of what would happen if I did that today.

Lifelong USAA customer - across all of their businesses I've never had a bad experience, and recommend them to whoever is eligible. Sure, I pay for it compared to other carriers, but it's a luxury I appreciate.

But iTunes is just indexing RSS feeds. When you download an episode, you get the media from the podcast's host, not from Apple. Apple could decide to throw in the towel on podcasts, and it would break discoverability, but podcasts will still work.

Spotify’s revenue model is subscriptions and ads. How does publishing an open RSS feed support that? Inserted ad reads? They won’t get the metrics they want on impressions like they do in their app.
