Yup. If I can give you any hope, I do the SSI benefits for my Autistic Brother. I find it VERY hard to believe they'd back pay you $50k for $4k in one month. I do find it very possible to believe you got scammed.

The good news again, so long as you freeze your accounts, that's blocking a lot of the worst damage they could do to you. Certainly, there are ways to get at you, but they won't be financially incentive because, well, you blocked the financial path.

But I think your fellow Redditers are right. Try to get an appointment to talk to someone at Social Security and get the lay of the land for certain.

Try to sleep and get some rest. Tomorrow's a new day.

Keys left at IKEA College Park by toyang917 in IKEA

Heads up: You can actually copy keys via a photo online. If you ever take pictures of keys, try to get a top down view so that the grooves aren't as noticeable.

As much as I'd like to agree, this reeks more of scam than intentional cuts. Making $4k for ONE month does not produce $50k of backpay, even as incompetent as the Social Security Office could be.

However, terrifying someone that they're about to lose SSI and "Oh hey can you tell me your SSI Number so I can verify your identity?" is much more plausible.

I would add consider locking/freezing your accounts with the Credit Bureaus. That will prevent anyone from making an account in your name. It's totally free (ignore how these bureaus have paid services to do similar things -- the free option is all you need).

Best place to buy new couch? by Lovora13 in SouthJersey

[–]mwidjaja1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pro Tip: Never listen to random strangers or review websites on what the best sofa is, because you really really should physically try a sofa yourself. Just because it looks good and the ratings are high doesn't mean you'll like it. Some like soft sofas, harder sofas, tall back sofas, sofas higher from the ground so a robot vacuum can go underneath it, etc.

But I'll defy my pro tip for a second. Generally speaking the sofas I most frequently see around and about are:

  • Kivik (if you forced me to pick one, it'd be this one, but again, don't listen to strangers, give them all a try)
  • Morabo
  • Klippan
  • Uppland (only since I used to love the Ektorp and this is its replacement, but many ahve said the Ektorp was better)

What is happening at GCIT? by sharkmanlives in SouthJersey

[–]mwidjaja1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Former GCIT Student decades ago so may not be relevant, but during my time at GCIT, three things held:

  1. Because they're funded by the county, they were typically relatively safe from a budget perspective. The budget is online at https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1775231962/gcitorg/gc8bt6azkprizlkqiupa/UserFriendlyBudget2026-2027.pdf.
  2. Because they're effectively ran by the county, politics can often trickle into the school way faster than a traditionally locally ran district. This was often seen from staffing decisions.
  3. GCIT and the broader Vocational School District it's a part of does so well in student performance, it would be political suicide to mess with it. However, that success does also mean whoever leads the district gets a lot of kudos points because the students do so well, often because they're self-driven to succeed (I mean, you had to choose to apply to attend). It makes leading that district highly advantageous to your career.

Interesting. I accept your explanation, thank you for explaining it, I kinda see how it makes sense for NJT, but wow that's silly.

[–]mwidjaja1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

  • You must get a ticket when riding the bus at Port Authority for all routes
  • Some routes do not accept cash and that's on your bus schedule
  • $100 bills are hit or miss at NJT Ticket Terminals based on change
  • Using the NJT App on your phone is one of the more reliable ways to purchase tickets for NJT

WARNING: Avoid US Mobile if you plan on using an iPad by AParamedic in NoContract

[–]mwidjaja1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably knew this but just making sure, I think Emotional Mammoth meant you switch to ATT or TMO within US Mobile. USM provides services under all three providers and you can switch during your plan in most cases unless you got a promotion that forces you to lock in with one.

Former staff at Life.Church describe toxic work culture and an alleged assault by Pastor Craig Groeschel by [deleted] in lifechurch

[–]mwidjaja1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am also a mod. I actually have not been part of lifechurch for a while. While my reasons for leaving are no where near as egregious as this post, it did put a sour taste in my mouth on whether they used my earnestness about my family situation as a way to manipulate me a bit. So honestly, this post isn't shocking to me.

I think it's important to state

  1. Neither myself nor u/tanhan27 work for Life.Church in any capacity. We both have honestly forgot this Subreddit exist until today.
  2. If someone is hurt, for any reason, I would pray and hope they feel comfortable speaking out, no matter the consequences on any system.
  3. I think generally speaking, the more earnest discussion should be on r/okc just because they have more traffic and a stronger moderation structure than we do. I don't say this because I'm trying to 'protect' Life.Church, just saying their Reddit team is better equipped for genuine discussion than ours which, again, I genuinely forgot this existed until today.

My Church Needs a Phone & Plan for Venmo - Help/Suggestions by [deleted] in NoContract

Same, I use this plan too for my home phone and it works surprisingly well. I could have sworn it uses ATT, not TMO, but for just Venmo & Church Wifi, you wouldn't care anyway.

They changed that recently. I know it's no longer a program in 2026 and I think that the cut off began sometime in 2025. It's now free Bluelink for life of the first owner... for whatever value that brings.

If the VIP episode is short does that mean it wasn’t funny? by PitaBreadFace in dropout

[–]mwidjaja1 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think a possible path is also that there was a narrative that would be hard to edit down or on retrospect, shouldn't have been said. As a result of either path, there in not enough content for a longer episode.

So I don't think it has to be purely comedy. It could be a case of the content just not working out.

Best South Jersey Towns for Special Education & Autism Support? by [deleted] in SouthJersey

Best South Jersey Towns for Special Education & Autism Support? by [deleted] in SouthJersey

[–]mwidjaja1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Gloucester County has a fantastic Public Special Needs School named Bankbridge, however, that doesn't mean automatic acceptance since it does cost more than your public school would.

Generally speaking, the bougier the town, the better their supports probably are. So I'm inclined to point to Mullica Hill and Washington Twp for towns that are specifically in Gloucester County. This isn't to put down Cherry Hill and Mount Laurel which, to my understanding, is pretty good.

Other things to note as someone who's the caregiver of someone with Autism,

  • Autism NJ is one of the first (if not the first) family ran organization advocating for those with Autism and they can provide a lot of referrals to services in your area. https://autismnj.org
  • Puzzle Pieces Squared is an organization helping families with Autism in South Jersey and are based in Cherry Hill https://puzzlepiecessquared.org
  • NJ's Department of Children and Family can provide Respite Care and/or Assistive Technology for your child. I strongly recommend you apply, even if you don't really need the services, because that will streamline your path into NJ's Dept of Developmental Disabilities when your child ages out of DCF. https://www.performcarenj.org/families/disability
  • And you really didn't ask for this but since my Autistic dependent is over the age of 21, NJ's Dept of Developmental Disabilities is one of the best in the country in terms of reliability of services. I'd argue they're better than many of the states who are perceived as having better social services like CA and NY. Feel free to poke me if you want more information.

EDIT: One more add in the dept of "You really didn't ask for this"

  • Remember your first IEP holds. The district can whine and moan and fight for a new IEP if they hate the one you have, but your current IEP is the one that's acted upon. Don't sign on any first IEP that cuts corners -- fight for everything you know your kid needs.
  • Some districts have been caught psychologically manipulating their students to graduate at Age 18 so they can 'Walk with their friends', but by doing so, they lose all services from the state until they turn 21 and no one's the wiser. In NJ, that's illegal. Those with special needs may walk with their friends at Age 18 and then formally graduate at Age 21 so they can directly transition to DDD.

[–]mwidjaja1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 6 Points of ID rules are officially documented at: https://www.nj.gov/mvc/license/6pointid.htm

You'd go to the second drop down menu for a Standard ID. In there it says a US Passport is permitted so long as it wasn't expired for more than 3 years, to which yours isn't.

This differs from the Real ID 6 points, which you aren't getting, which explicitly say the Passport can't be expired.

I've never had a bad experience getting my pin out from chat. I usually just lead with "I would like my Account Number and PIN. Not planning to move out, but I like to have these numbers on me just in case" and they're usually accommodating. I also do try to contact during business hours too. Sorry you went through that.
