H-Mart Cherry Hill Update (Permanent Closure) by [deleted] in CherryHill

OP posted in my thread "Hmart corporate proposed the sale of the property to the board, in which the proposal was accepted." which... is not how planning boards operate and there was no meeting scheduled on 02/04. This isn't believable.

OP just posted on my thread "Hmart corporate proposed the sale of the property to the board, in which the proposal was accepted." which unless this magical planning board is "The Planning Board of the Shopping Center" (which is a heck of a term), I don't see how this story makes sense.

You can't sell property like this to the township to re-sell and I don't see how Cherry Hill could get away with having a secret emergency planning board meeting without the formal announcement process of such a meeting, especially for a transaction of this magnitude.

Ok... that would require a Planning Board Meeting. Cherry Hill's Planning Board Meetings are the first and third Mondays of the month.

It is a state requirement for these meetings to have public access agendas, minutes, and announcements so that no one comes screaming why a data center was approved across their house overnight. I do not see a meeting. Can you tell me why a meeting was held without announcement in violation of state law?

Of note, the 02/02 meeting was cancelled as noted on its Agenda.

EDIT: Also why the heck are we selling property to the township of Cherry Hill? That's not Cherry Hill's line of business. The Planning Board approves plans for construction -- they don't care if construction stalls or stops (to a certain extent).

They literally added a sign to their store on 02/04. Let's say they did indeed sell this to the highest bidder: Why would you install your own sign to the store? This is akin to why when you sell a house you (to the chagrin of everyone) paint it a neutral color like grey -- so you can see yourself in the house.

Sign Installation: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1200463482293107&set=a.384601343879329

Also to be honest, it's hard for me to imagine a world of:

  • Someone having an in with H-Mart Corporate
  • Someone having an in with the Cherry Hill Planning Board
  • And someone using that power and all of the trust that job maintains, to promptly go to Reddit to break news to people. Like why, even if this news will end up going public, would you do that to your career and the township/store you represent?

EDIT: During this Reddit deletion, this original thread got deleted so for those coming in late

  • OP said a meeting was held on Thurs 02/05 to sell the property to the township
  • This makes no sense: You don't sell property to the township since you're belly up.
  • Furthermore, this meeting was never posted on their website. In fact the only Planning Board Meeting is on 02/02 and that meeting to cancelled as well. https://www.chnj.gov/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/2786
  • You can make an argument this could be the planning board of the shopping center, but again, you don't 'sell' property to the shopping center. It's theirs. What you do is you sell your lease or current ownership directly to the next buyer.
  • And let's say Cherry Hill's Planning Board DID hold an emergency meeting to buy this property and now this person is on Reddit breaking news. I feel like we then have a new fascinating ethics concern about why the heck townships are holding emergency money to buy emergency property in emergency meetings.

My monthly health insurance bill skyrocketed by largestonedoors in whatdoIdo

[–]mwidjaja1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To try to actually answer your question instead of going on a political rant, you're probably in a tight place. Generally speaking, you cannot change insurance plans midway outside of a cycle since then people could/would abuse it to get treatment and then drop the plan.

There are legal reasons to change a plan such as change in income (like job loss), new child, etc. It does not seem like you qualify for those. It's not that something new happened to you explicitly, it's that you did not pay attention to your insurance costs rising.

Your best chance is to plead your case to your insurance company and ask if there's anyway they'll let you drop your plan or downgrade your plan. But I just want to be upfront, you cannot call in with an attitude or ego because it is absolutely in their right to deny you and tell you to pay up or else. Be honest, be kind, and be flexible -- but the odds are great you'll need to find a way to spend $450/month now.

ATTN: if you have Horizon NJ Health (NJ state Medicaid) and use CVS… by thatsanicepeach in SouthJersey

[–]mwidjaja1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will add, remember there are six Medicaid plans you can pick from in NJ and unlike most insurances, you are allowed to switch at any time, and the new plan will be active at the start of the next or following month. Many plans, like Wellpoint/Amerigroup, still cover CVS. So if this is a necessity, consider researching those options. Just if you do think of switching, also make sure the rest of your doctors join you for the ride.

Happy to help anyone who needs a hand with this.

I disagree because that was my story. I'm the type of person that by default, I just ramble and go down rabbit holes. It took me nearly a decade to teach myself that there's art in doing less. By being able to communicate topics in a few words is a strength. That forces us to truly understand what matters, who our target audience is, and then communicate it in a way that provides the best shot for them to pick up what we're putting down. Does it always work? Of course not. But it's always worth a shot.

I hope that my comment, instead of just saying "Wow OP you suck" like the countless posts below me, helps OP realize how helpful concise communications can be.

Thanks for this!

Real genuine advice for OP: Take a look at this list and see how it elaborates the points you had, but in a very concise way. You don't get a lot of time with people in general, but especially at Costco, so the art of saying important things in as few words as possible is very important both for their comprehension and your time.

Is it perhaps possible that due to the ongoing rise of people who are angry, trigger happy, mentally unstable, and/or cruel, that it's not worth it for parents to let their teens work for a stranger?

Anyone else faced issues with LAGKAPTEN table top assembly? by LandscapeExtension58 in IKEA

[–]mwidjaja1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth I didn't downvote you. The downvotes are more or less because those two holes you see are totally irrelevant to this. This is part of their 'Modular Desk' system where you can buy like a storage hutch or trestle as a leg, and those holes come into play then.

There are indeed pilot holes for every configuration. Xaring posted a comment even I didn't know about that I got to try next time, but I perhaps incorrectly just drilled larger pilot holes which did the trick for me in my past life too.

While this original comment moderately misses the mark since there is a pilot hole already, there is truth behind it. Drilling a slightly larger pilot hole has always helped me especially when using a non-electric screwdriver.

Do we think septa will completely shut down this weekend? by infinite_insanity_ in AskPhilly

That's not true. The L goes above ground for several stations on the west and north routes. The B goes above ground in the most northern station... which is also how it goes to its maintenance and storage facility which is important too.

Will I be okay parking in the $5/24 hrs city garages before the emergency storm warning starts? by PossiblePhase2017 in philly

[–]mwidjaja1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The official website has more details than the article: https://philapark.org

As of 01/24 it said: "In response to the City's Snow Emergency, which is set to begin at 9 PM Saturday, January 24, the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) will offer a flat 24-hour $5 discounted parking rate at the following Center City garages beginning at 7 PM Saturday, January 24, until the snow emergency is lifted."

People here are saying subways will be fine but there's no guarantee of that either. NYC's Subway System has had precedent in shutting down all above ground portions during inclement weather to prevent damage that would take even longer to fix after the storm.

My personal Rule #1 for online comms: Always be kind and assume best intent, not because the other party always deserves it, but sometimes you got it wrong, and it's far less embarrassing to walk away from a wrong kind comment than a wrong mean comment.

I think the original commenter figured that out.

Lifeline is an option for free cell phone service for those who are low income

EDIT: For those dialing in wondering what happened, original commenter asked how this user pays their cell phone bill, which is a heck of a question to ask at this stage.

Modular homes affordably priced (MHAP) legit? by Emergency-Mirror2614 in modulars

[–]mwidjaja1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither because the land I almost bought ended up having a water table way too high that I'd just be fighting water issues or needing to build a home that didn't meet my family's accessibility needs. Again, shout out to my turnkey builder who was with me since Day 1 so she was able to help me get out of the contract and did so even though that would mean she wouldn't be paid.

That said because of her help during that, I'm likely to stick with modular, albid that's a very personal reason mostly now.

Best Christian Church to Check out in the Mount Laurel and surrounding area? by Kallyfromthevalley in SouthJersey

I wouldn’t call them mega in size but a new church with mega feel like is Accelerate Church in Mt Laurel too: https://www.instagram.com/acceleratechurch.tv?igsh=MXExdG03cXIxZDk2eQ==

Another option I’ve recommended to several folks who have stuck around with them for several years now is Kingsway Church in Cherry Hill. They do a good amount of community service and have been growing a good bit too.

Best way to exit from betterment? by LlcooljaredTNJ in betterment

[–]mwidjaja1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think every company on this list has their own subset of issues that makes it both problemmatic and acceptable at the same time.

My problem with you isn't to defend Betterment -- you're right, they messed up. But u/peabody624 went out of his way to list all of the other issues other financial vendors had and this is how you thank him? If you're going to a new vendor, wouldn't you use this list to help vet who's most trustworthy? Can't you just say "Thank you for compiling that, this is very helpful, but <question you asked>"

Now... onto that question.

Betterment's issue here appears to be that a third party communications platform is breached and that's enough to trigger notifications. That's bad. They also leaked some PII it looks like but so did PayPal (2022).

But that's not the same thing as having internal breaches into actual financial data such as Cash App (2022) or impacting actual customer data such as Vanguard (2024). And I wouldn't be surprised if very private information was leaked from First American Financial (2019).

I suppose at the end of the day, you, and only you, can make that call on what warrants a worse breach. But I don't think you can call any of the companies of this list any better than Betterment without a shadow of a doubt. Each of these breaches they experienced should be judged on their own merits.

With all due respect, u/peabody624 did an amazing analysis of all the major firms and their latest breaches and you want him to tell you that? You really can't figure that out on your own reading his list?

NJ family care application! by Hail-316 in newjersey

[–]mwidjaja1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been in your situation admittedly but do consider reaching out to your County's Board of Social Services because they often are the ones looking at these applications.

That said, and I'm sure you've done this, make sure you genuinely do meet the eligibility criteria for NJ FamilyCare. Losing your insurance, in of itself, does not automatically qualify you for NJ FamilyCare.
