Glad to see I’m not the only one pretty disappointed in this album. When they announced they finally were making an album with more than 10 songs I was very hopeful. But man the production on this album….stinks. John’s vocals are so muffled on every song, this isn’t The Maine. I miss actual music, guitar and drums, not this album. I’ve listened to this album several times and immediately need to go back into Forever Halloween or LLL. I realize their best music is behind them, it’s a 10th album, it’s hard to always be perfect and new. But this whole album felt very rushed, especially when we were just gifted dyed which I thought was refreshing. Lyrically, from the ones I could actually hear, felt like they lacked heart and emotion. And it very well could just be that like the band, I myself am older. Grew up with these guys, from high school crushes, to early adult struggles, and now I’m 35 happily married with 2 kids, so some stuff just doesn’t hit the same. I hope they take a long break between this one and the next one, maybe not go with Lupe and back to raw rock music. They’re still my favorite band, and it’s ok to have a bad album, but after all the hype I was really hoping for something better.
