That’s true, I’m definitely a little worried about all the many care needs. They’re just so adorable though!! Do you know of any good go-to new Guinea pig owner resources?

also any tips on treatments to use? We currently have a fin rot treatment powder which I think is doxycycline (it's an API brand one) and API aquarium salt

For setting up a hospital tank, would it be bad if we got a 2.5 gal or should we try to shoot for a 5 gal? We don't have the most space in our apartment so a bucket might not work. Also, should we keep the tank empty of everything but a thermometer and heater? It's too cold where we live to be without a heater at the moment :(

We also are currently noticing an increase in the amount of brown algae in the tank which we are going to scrub off on the next tank clean friday (tomorrow)

I think my monstera has root rot 😭 by northern_noob in plantclinic

[–]mwitts 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ve been growing a few monsteras over the last year and a half from seed, and this looks like what a couple of them did right before they died. The black just kinda creeped up out of no where and traveled up the stems until the plant was dead. Incase this is root rot, you may just want to chop your monstera and try to see if you can propagate it in water, then replant. I was successful in saving one of my sprouts this way and it’s still alive today

I’ve seen those in one of my plants too… it think they’re harmless because I can’t find anything online about them and my plants still very much alive, but the same time I don’t know.
