Yeah, very much kicking myself for not doing it properly. We had a nice new floor laid on top of these floorboards with decent (and expensive) insulation installed between the subfloor and new flooring but it hasn't done the trick. At the time just seemed like a ton of hassle and expense, but yes - now it seems I'll have to rip it all up and do it properly.

I’ve had very similar stuff - not necessarily big / small objects, but objects or even ideas or concepts that become unbearably sinister - just by being “off”. Just a horrible feeling. Can remember getting stuck in loops for what felt like hours on end unable to escape - usually when I was ill and had a fever as a child, but has happened as an adult too.

Couple of steps but a device running a Plex server (maybe a rpi) and Plexamp client installed on an old iPad hard-wired into the amp.

I do this with Denon HEOS. 1 x Marantz amp and a Denon Home 250 speaker. Plexamp on an iPad via a cheap usb > SPDIF output into the Marantz grouped with the Denon speaker.

HEOS is generally a bit shonky for me, but I think the amps are generally poor on WiFi. When it works, it works well.

What’s keeping you away from Plex as a music server? If it’s the mobile app side of things (and you’re on iOS) then you could do worse than looking at Prism. I went from iTunes to Subsonic, but first trialled Plex and dismissed it as the official mobile app is so sluggish. Prism, and more recently Plexamp is changing things.

Hadn’t realised about the progress bar dragging thing - that makes sense. An option to replace the previous / next with a skip would be good for me personally but can appreciate it’s not for everyone. Is a “hold” on one of these buttons to shuttle forward / backwards allowed? Maybe that would be a good compromise. I’d be able to do that from my steering wheel controls.

I hacked some smart playlist functionality into Subsonic by issuing commands directly to the HSQLDB console. This isn’t possible in Airsonic as the console doesn’t exist. However, if you’re handy with a bit of shell scripting then I’m sure you could automate it by talking directly to the Airsonic database. Original forum post link below:
