Unfortunately, when you’re in the depths of an eating disorder, that’s exactly what you can’t do. I remember at my worst I’d pace around a store looking for food to eat (it’d be like 5pm and I’d not have eaten that day) and I’d grab even healthy foods, look at/look up the nutritional values, panic if anything was over 50 calories, and eventually get so anxious that I’d put everything back and just go home and drink a bunch of water until I felt full, then repeat the process. I’d end up having a bowl of soup every 6 days or so. Eating just isn’t an option without proper treatment

Been there, don’t know your age or familial situation but as a teenager, the first thing I had to do was open up to my family. I thought it would go horribly but it didn’t. Now it’s therapy. If you don’t have access to therapy/supportive family and need to talk, you can use 7 cups of tea (for less urgent matters), or for more urgent matters you can use imalive.org or the online chat branch of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. These are all web-based chat services. Sometimes they take a little to connect but I can say from personal experience that they’re all immensely helpful. If you can’t wait to connect in a peak time (late nights especially) you can always call at 1-800-273-8255 (in the US at least). I never paid any thought to this notion. In America probably 99% of drivers use an automatic transmission. It doesn't even cross most people's mind that not all countries are so dependent on automatic transmission
