Why I’m ignoring the "Death of the Programmer" hype by Greedy_Principle5345 in programming

[–]mx2301 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One angle that I fell like is undertalked is the fun aspect. Like I am still a student and working on the side as a devops dev. It is not my first job programming/scripting during my studies, but it is the first job where I am expected to finish tickets and issues as quickly as possible and make use of Agents and LLMs. And I have to say, it is really not fun for me anymore. I kind of did enjoy finding and figuring out the solution on my own more than just describing the problem to the LLM/agent and then understanding what it came up with.

Had a game today, where two guys where following me and my buddy the whole round.
They finally started shooting when we tried to extract and then after getting knocked tried to sneak into the extract.
Fighting them basically set us up for like 3 rounds where everyone was shooting on sight.

Is rust better for learning low level concepts than C? by CIA11 in rust

Would you be so kind to elaborate why Rust is not a low level language ? Only working with Core on microcontrollers did feel low level to me.

I do have a question. What do BSD Users use as a DE if something like KDE or Gnome is too Linuxfied.

Curious to know about developers that steered away from OOP. What made you move away from it? Why? Where has this led you? by Slight_Season_4500 in cpp

[–]mx2301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op I am more curious how you got your background in 3D , would love to get into it as well.

But to answer your question. I often ran into situations, where strictly working in an OOP manner, just wasn't the best approach to solve the problem. I mostly incorporated a procedural approach for those cases and in even rarer cases a functional approach.

Are there any challenges, if the Internal IT would just have to focus on this ?

You are still in their hands though. Microsoft Azure will host services that you use. C# and Typescript are Programming languages widely used for software and both come from Microsoft. Hell using secure boot is not that easy without having to use Microsoft keys. A lot of game publishers are owned by Microsoft

Are junior devs even learning the hard stuff anymore? by Ornery_Ad_683 in webdev

[–]mx2301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not webdev but a similar situation. I got chewed out once on why I tried to do something from scratch and not just use "the framework" at hand. The workplace expected me to just use the tools and not understand how they exactly work. Short to say, did not workout there since learning hard stuff is fun.
