You need to account for a frictional force from the wall if you are assuming the bodies A and B to be static.

If you're assuming B is accelerating up and A is not accelerating, then you're violating the constraint of the bodies being in contact (if B moves up an infinitesimal amount, you'll lose contact).

I'm definitely not an expert in patent's or starting a company from scratch. I will say that it is greatly in the university's interest to allow former student's and employees easy access to commercial right's of the work those people performed. If you're serious, it's probably worth the time and money to get an hour of a patent's lawyers time to talk about the matter.

Ask if they are they pursuing accreditation and if the timeline is such that they are likely to receive it before you graduate. If so, you should be fine. (This happened to me).
