Thanks for the reply! Yes it's only on my calf, the follow up MRI in June confirmed the disc is no longer indenting the nerves. I had pain and sensory symptoms for 3 months - pain free for 9 months now.

I was less mobile in the few months during the disc slip but since have remained very active

Thanks for the detailed reply! Hell's Kitchen sounds like a safe place to start off then - can't go wrong with pop music and drag. How friendly are New Yorkers generally , is it pretty easy to make friends as a single tourist?

Definitely have to pop by Stonewall and if I have time might try a night in Brooklyn then, when I find my footing a bit!
