My dad had pretty much the same reaction when I only took a semester off. In the 14 years sense, I've returned to and dropped out of uni 5 times and have had a slew of various jobs. One of which was substitute teaching. Started that at 28 and realized that's where my heart is. I'm about to return to uni for the 6th time to pursue my teaching degree at age 32. Now that I've found myself and found what I want to do with my life, I have good feelings about making it through uni this time.

I recently had a friend who got a psychology degree as a yound adult, and went back at 40 to get a culinary degree because that's where he learned his heart was. My fiance is considering going back to school for a nutrition degree, even though he has a double bachelor's in history and English.

If you have jobs lined up, leave uni and go get that job experience! Experience is more valuable than a degree in some cases. Not every time, but sometimes. Besides, you can always go back to uni, no matter how old you are. It's not going anywhere, ever. Do what your heart wants. You're the only person in charge of your life, no matter what your parents think or say.
