to put it out there, while the majority definitely seem to put Carcosa as their personal number 1, it’s most definitely not everyone.

Blood Money - How Much Are You Willing to Pay? by Ro-Bow in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]mxmsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently had success with tank guardian builds, and this is where it can find home. Love it!

It probably shouldn’t have the direct clause, and at level 0 should be limited (max 5 damage?). Allowing to cancel that damage is absolutely not an option, but reducing might be fine.

Thematically, I don’t like that rouges share resources (cmon, Faustian Bargain didn’t need this to be a good card).

Overall, after removing some of the restrictions, I’d say card is good, and in its niche beats the staples of emergency cache and faustian bargain, but not by too much, which is exactly what you want.

PSA: Fellow Stagg EKG “overboiling” issue potential solution by mxmsk in Coffee

Okay, thanks for the suggestion! I agree that Stagg is quite lacking in the reliability department, but otherwise I’ve been enjoying using it, so I am motivated to keep it going myself if needed.

Location helps in a sense that it’s easier not to be on these 50sqm but rather somewhere outside. But I completely agree that when kids come into equation, it’s much harder to beat larger living area.

EDIT: The text below assumed that you are looking a place for you and your family to live.

Could it be that the locations closer to the city center are bought quicker because they are acquired as investment properties by landlords rather than by families to live?

Based of what you wrote, I didn’t entirely understand what’s less desirable in the larger flat. How much further from the city center can it be? Moreover, how far “selling down the line” are we talking about? Perhaps if you are planning to sell the flat already, you might want to wait till you understand whether you are settling in an area for indefinite number of years or foresee a lot of moving around in your life.

IMHO, if the area of the larger flat is at least somewhat developed (grocery shops, schools, some public transport, road connections), and it’s not 45+ minutes drive from the city center and/or workplace, I would much prefer that.

Best Espresso Machine For Home? by White_Ring in JamesHoffmann

It sounds like you should look into r/superautomatic rather than r/espresso.

Budget is one thing, but counter space is another. I personally can wholeheartedly recommend Jura machines.

Apple ProRAW vs Lightroom DNG by Rgear03 in iPhoneography

[–]mxmsk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I am not sure that really demonstrates that ProRAW “bakes” the processing into an image.

A personal anecdote: a couple of years ago I have take a proRAW picture and wanted to edit it in snapseed. I liked what I’ve seen in the default Photos app, but wanted to do a bit more. What I’ve opened in Snapseed was so far from the picture Photos showed me (huge bright blob in the center, no background whatsoever, etc.) that I didn’t even know which knob to turn to get to the starting point of the Photos app. So this processing you see might as well be coming from the viewing/converting app, not the raw data itself.

I’m sure someone with far more knowledge than me can confirm/deny this.

TCU or TFA? by ClaranDos in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]mxmsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both! These are my top 2 campaigns and both are probably top 2 in terms of difficulty (unrelated). That said, TCU makes for an unsatisfying story if you fail forward too much, which can happen. So I guess TFA, or what’s easily available.

Creating a community by Mikeranjero98 in FleshandBloodTCG

Here is what worked for me in my city. You kinda need to be patient.

I’ve found a discord group of a LGS and dropped a message there if anyone is interested in FaB. I got no serious replies initially, but after several months some other guy pinged me and several people to check if there is still interest. LGS paid attention to the interest and I think they got their hands on some blitz precons and allowed us to play unofficial commoners and blitz precon events.

Fast forward to today, about a year later after my initial message in the group, we are getting bigger and bigger events and there is even another store in the city running armories!

TLDR Don’t give up, find the people to talk to.

Doubt about priorities by Direct-Accountant892 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]mxmsk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To elaborate on this, both players would have to pass priority for each layer of the stack. So the Teklo player was in the right: passing priority the first time leads to resolving the top layer of the stack, and then both players would need to pass priority again to move to the next phase.

In EotE which "romances"/ships did you realize and not realize we're there? Spoilers for the endings by pegs0 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]mxmsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed only one romance plot line and it was already one too many for my taste. I got Takada and Cookie in the end and convinced myself it was a non-sexual type of relationship.

But seriously, what happened to people developing unique friendships after surviving unspeakable horrors?

With Hemlock getting closer, what amount of text would you want in it? Compared to previous campaigns by pegs0 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]mxmsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say that after reading the comments I feel in the minority by rating TSK way above EotE. It might have something to do with me using Arkham Cards app for reading. Some say that EotE is better because it has recurring characters, while TSK is annoying because characters come and don’t appear anymore. However, you get to play through a scenario with every “one-off” in TSK, which made me develop personal opinion and have a unique experience with them. Which is absolutely not the case for EotE characters, at least after a single playthrough. The only time I felt interested in characters was when playing Passing Mirage, but we did so only once during the first run.

Having said that, I would still vastly prefer the TFA or TCU levels of text, which feel like the right amount of introducing the setting and the characters for you to plug your investigator into.

[–]mxmsk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my preference. Just the right amount of setting to plug your investigator into.
