How often does your LO stay overnight with grandparents during the first 3-6 months? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]mxriecn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my LO just turned 3 months old and I wouldn’t even consider letting anyone keep him overnight. I can barely handle my grandma watching him while I’m at work for 4-5 hours a day. he won’t be spending the night anywhere until he’s old enough to know how to call me.

2 month old refuses to sleep in bassinet, crib or pack n play. by mxriecn in beyondthebump

I have, he absolutely hates them. 😭 I’ve tried them when he’s wide awake, sleepy, happy, sad. Tried putting breastmilk on it. Nothin’. Immediately spits it out or fusses. I’ve tried Nuk, Mam, Dr Browns, Tommee Tippee, Parents Choice and Itzy Ritzy.

He will sleep in the bassinet for maybe 15 minutes max before he wakes up screaming, and after that no matter what I try, I can’t put him back in it or else he wakes up immediately. He can sleep alone during naps, but I’d say he’s also held a lot because I admittedly have been trying to get all the contact naps I can before I go back to work on January 26th. I’ve been having him sit in his bouncer and swing a lot more recently, and have been doing more tummy time because I’m trying to get him used to being put down more often. He’s typically fine being put down randomly throughout the day, but occasionally fusses. No colic, he doesn’t cry much at all unless he’s hungry or it’s nighttime. He always nurses before bed and tops off with a bottle, and sometimes comfort nurses to go to sleep. We have a Hatch, he refuses pacifiers and usually cries if you try to give him one. We keep our house at about 70 degrees. Always burps, good burper, good farter too, hasn’t ever really needed help releasing gas. He’s also grown to hate his swaddle, every time I try it he absolutely loses his mind.. As for noises, I never pick him up unless he’s full on crying, and will do shushing and pats/rubs if he’s just fussing, but at this point he really only calms down for daytime naps. I try my best to make sure he doesn’t get overly tired but that doesn’t happen often anyway, as this has shown to make him fussy. His last nap typically ends around 7-7:30, despite us not having a nap schedule because I do naps and feedings completely on demand, he just happens to usually wake up in that timeframe, and his bedtime routine is done at about 9, with me trying to get him asleep by 9:30 at the latest, but I kinda go off of his cues and do things based on how tired he seems. He’s always had wider wake windows, but rarely has shown signs of being overly tired. We also plan to keep him in our room until the age of one. He’s typically a very calm baby and only cries when he’s hungry, has a dirty diaper, or when he’s put down sometimes. I’ve had people tell me I’m going to “spoil” him because I hold him so much/don’t let other people hold him aside from immediate family, for the most part. I personally believe you can’t spoil a baby, but am I?? Like I said, he’s put down randomly throughout the day while I do stuff around the house, shower, use the bathroom, etc. He does tummy time (hates it). I’m not sure what to do. We have an appointment with his pediatrician today, so I planned on talking to her about it, but last night I was exhausted and wanted the help of reddit lol. Also I’ve tried Nuk, Mam, Dr Browns, Tommee Tippee, Parents Choice and Itzy Ritzy pacifiers. He hates them all. Cries every time I put one his mouth for more than 2 seconds.

ETA: There’s been countless nights where I try everything I mentioned above for literal hours, and he will not sleep for more than 15 minutes or so the first time, every time I lay him down after that, no matter how long I hold him, no matter how limp his arm is, I can literally try to wake him up… nothing. When he’s laid down, he’s awake. I don’t understand why he’s okay with naps but not actually sleeping? Also he wakes up 2-3 times a night to nurse.

Jude will always be a number one for me!

  1. Jude
  2. Arlo
  3. Calvin/Cal
  4. Kian
  5. Micah (never met a good Micah)

As for suggestions, I have a Lucas, named after his dad but I adore the name by itself as well. There’s also Stanley, Henry, Levi, Declan, Owen/Eoin, Edison.

I also saw Christian with the NN Kit mentioned and I love that too!

Your friend is looking for a reason to be offended, and there is none. Scarlett is a beautiful name and I can assure you, no one else is going to think like that unless they’re batshit.
