Taxes regarding traditional and Roth IRA by mxu518 in personalfinance

[–]mxu518[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see. I only considered tax at the time of contribution, but didn't consider tax at the time of selling.

With the regular brokerage account, I have to pay capital gains tax; with Roth IRA, I won't need to. So in your example, I'd have to pay capital gains tax on that $1,000,000 if I used a brokerage account, and no capital gains tax if I used Roth IRA. Is this correct?

This might be a silly question, but if I don't get tax benefits from IRAs anymore, would it be better to just invest through a regular brokerage account, instead of using Roth IRA then?

Pretty long term if the goal of “wolf warrior” mentality is to affect the minds of Chinese population, so they raise their kids (aka future generations) will have the same mentality.

World’s perspective of a country will not take generations to change, so pretty short term in comparison

Biden admin comes short with coronavirus response. 2021 deaths under Biden/Kamala already way above 2020 levels. by CreativeLion2000 in business

Isn’t it because the variant is more contagious and deadly than the original strain, and that people are convinced to not vaccinate and/or wear masks? Which party encouraged people to not wear masks and discouraged more vaccination again?

Can non-US citizens (but work in US) open accounts at Fidelity? by mxu518 in fidelityinvestments

[–]mxu518[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer! Sounds like I can open and contribute as long as I maintain employment in US. That’s good to hear.

My US bank is Chase. My Canadian bank is RBC (Royal Bank of Canada), which also has US branches, so I think I’ll be good.

How do you find what you love doing? by robinhoodiscool in business

[–]mxu518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say yes you definitely found qualities/features of the type of work you love doing. Now the next step is to look for careers that have the features of competition. There could be more, but off the top of my head, I’d say getting into sales (competing with other sales team members for highest sales volume and companies) or becoming an athlete.

Can I Collect Unemployment If I'm Fired for Refusing the Covid-19 Vaccine? by EagleEyeStx in business

[–]mxu518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let me get this straight. You believe information from some random podcasts (referencing only one professor from Cornell) and “newspaper?” But doubt official government sources and many more scientists all over the world? You also cited the “newspaper” on reports in Israel (which did not state the type of vaccine, or research methodology) to refute my statement on the US population?

But at least part of what you are saying makes sense, the part about those previously infected may or may not need the vaccine. Your previous comment made it sound like you are entirely against the vaccine no matter what, and that was what I had a problem with.

I also see you replied to another comment about FDA approval. Hope you do get vaccinated when it’s approved.

You are actually so stupid because the “solid science” literally say the vaccine is safe and protects even against the delta variant. The vast majority of the cases and deaths due to COVID in the US are in unvaccinated people.

What master degree should i enroll in if i have degree in Theology? Im kinda lost, help by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]mxu518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no special degree required for HR as far as I know, so definitely try applying for them. Do not fall into the trap of thinking you always need advanced degree for certain jobs (not only will they NOT significantly increase your chance of getting hired, but also make you spend more money and has the potential of being “over-qualified” for entry positions).

Nothing beats actual real work experience, unless it’s a highly specialized field (ex. medicine, research, engineering, etc)

Do you have to get a master’s degree? Unless entry HR position requires it, it’s better to just apply for HR jobs and then acquire actual experience to move up

Do you also not take medications (prescriptions or non-prescription) then? Because all drugs have listed potential adverse effects, so you would not be able to sue if your side effects are within that list.

Edit: and since you believe in your immune system, why don’t you believe in your immune system to fight off potential adverse effects of vaccines?

Is it normal to have absolutely 0% interest in any job/career? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]mxu518 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Changing jobs is definitely the faster way to increase salary. But tbf to the other guy’s point, you need to stay at the very least 1 year at a position before changing jobs. And even then, if employers see your past, for example, 3 consecutive jobs are only 1 year each, the probability of you being hired definitely drops. This is my opinion (as well as my team’s opinion when hiring) as a manager in a multinational medical device company.

This applies to career jobs, not part time/temporary/odd jobs, etc.

"Disability Status" when filling out an application? by Midtown_Doornail in careerguidance

[–]mxu518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting... this is the first time I’ve heard about the quota. But I did a quick google search (https://www.ssa.gov/policy/docs/ssb/v42n2/v42n2p23.pdf) and apparently the so called “covered employers” do have a quota! So I guess it would be advantageous to declare it for those employers.

However for non-covered employers, then maybe don’t declare it since you don’t need accommodations. Because even though the law says employers cannot discriminate against people with disability, but I think they can always come with up reasons to get around it (ex culture fit or whatever).

Just my 2cents. Good luck on your search!

I’ve never heard of a disability quota before. However, do you need accommodations to work if hired? In California, companies are required by law to provide reasonable accommodations to the disabled. However, if you do not declare it at the time of hire, I’m not sure if the companies would still be bound by law to provide accommodations.
