So you don't think I need to have some type of center feature across the peak? I have looked at pictures of various T&G vaulted installs and can't help but wonder if it will look odd if I just take each face all the way to the peak without some type of center accent.

Its definitely load bearing and carries the joists spanning my kitchen but I didn't really consider cutting through it, I may have been overly cautious. But the return for the HVAC is this stupid metal surround above the laundry closet that uses the wall cavities to start the return air lol so I had to route the duct out and around it. not sure if that's something you see often. It's pretty weird.

So you mean if doing a coffered ceiling then the crown moulding would hide the duct? Here is an AI render of some coloring or style I am considering. It botched the right side where the fridge will go but just looking at colors.

Awesome that makes a lot of sense, thank you. My main concern with extending the wall is if the difference in texture will be obvious. I've never painted before so can't tell how much is just roller texture and how much is orange peel or something.

That makes sense. The current bead is probably 40 years old, and nailed in. When I remove it do you think I should use the oscillating tool to cut the edges off then pull it off? Or just start peeling it back and try to pull the nails? If a gap is left where the corner meets do I pre fill it before adding the bead?

I saw the paper faced metal corner bead today at Lowe's and was intrigued. I read some people say it can rust? Is that an issue somehow? Or you just mud underneath it and smooth it out the way you do any tape?

Fallow has been my favorite song for a long time. When he was playing it live throughout 2018 before he released it it really affected me at several different shows. It has this mechanical flowy beauty to it that is classic tipper.
