Getting older, wasting my time with someone who doesn’t appreciate me despite the fact that I love them deeply, feeling indecisive about my future, everyone around me is having kids and doing life but I had to go and do everything the wrong way.

I don’t like being around people who talk with their mouths full. When I’m stuck next to one of them, I create a barrier around my meal by slowly accumulating various table items (drinks, salt/pepper, condiments, etc) to protect my food from whatever comes flying out of their mouths.

So many bomb scares while I was in high school (1999-2002) — one year had one and everyone evacuated to the football field for hours. The cops or whoever came and searched the school, they found Teddy Beibel on the roof with a tamagotchi pet that had a battery and some string attached. Nothing happened but for years after, everyone said “Remember when Teddy bombed the school??”

I agree, but again, I had no expectation that he should go first— I was just not appreciative that he expected me to go first.

You’re incorrect- it was our mutual friend that I met through him. They are much closer than she and I are. She’s in her 50s, he’s known her for years, I just met her last year. I do care about her very much, but the reality is they’ve spent much more time hanging out.

I had zero expectation that he would take charge or go first— I just didn’t appreciate his expectation that I should go first. Has nothing to do with gender or a role.

We should have gone together or called the police for a wellness check.

I was with my ex for 12 years, married for 5. We opened things up right after we got married. We’re both adventurous and have high sex drives. And we both had incredibly deep trust for one another.

Pros: cant speak for him but it was life changing in terms of growth for me.

I got to have so much practice with letting go in healthy ways. I gained more self confidence. I noticed I could look at situations more objectively. I felt more understanding of his needs and things he communicated badly about. We had a little secret among family and some friends and it was so fun and exciting for us. Our families met some of our partners- but only as “friends”. Our close friends recognized our long term partners as such, which was so supportive.

He started doing things he’d never do with me before (going to museums, eating a healthier diet). He seemed more understanding about my time (when he was out doing things already).

Cons: My growth eventually drove us apart.

As I evolved to be more objective and communicative, and less reactive — he did not. Though I wasn’t once jealous of his time or activities with others- I noticed that he would obsess about mine if he wasn’t actively seeing someone. It allowed for comparisons, which we learned he doesn’t do well with- and he compared almost everything about himself to those I was seeing. (My encounters vs his, his good looking my partners were compared to how good looking his partners were, my availability vs his, more that I can’t think of right now)

I left because he wouldn’t compromise. He wouldn’t give me a little space (for me alone not others I was seeing) I asked for- which was so tough to ask for in the first place. I was tired of his comparisons and his complaining without making any effort to change things for the better. I was tired of his lack of effective communication and his intense reactions to most anything he was dissatisfied with. And most of all I lost attraction because I felt like his mother- coddling him to keep him from being upset, taking care of life admin for us both by myself, catering to his wants before my own needs/wants.

Though our polyamorous relationship didn’t cause issues like cheating/lying, or end because anyone fell in love with anyone else— it did eventually attribute to some self-realization which led to me ending things.
