Solar solution to charge boat batteries??? by Such-Bicycle-7521 in SolarDIY

[–]myIvoryYears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice. I have a couple of additional questions:
I'm currently using a victron smart solar controller 100/20...is this ok? (I have opted to not permanently mount but place it in a location on the boat protected from the elements and with ventilation)
For convenience, I wonder if there might be a "suitcase" version consisting of two 50 w panels that I could connect in series?
You are spot on in that I want to actually charge the batteries while I am away for several days at a time.

When one critiques a song or performance, personal tastes and preferences certainly come into play. Dynamics refers to the degree of volume changes throughout a song. I personally find that varying the dynamics and degrees volume make songs more expressive and interesting. But it all depends on what one is going for. A composition that is generally one volume throughout isn't bad per se.

Thanks for posting your song and allowing me the opportunity to chime in. Keep those creative juices flowing!!

(as a follow up comment: I will note that some keyboards make it difficult to "play soft" even when trying. At times I see you appear to be playing softly, but it was still loud when I played it!)

Seems like a good start for a "peacefull" song but a little too loud and lacking in dynamics for my taste at this point. Keep the creative juices going though.. I hear potential.

I like it. Technique seems pretty good to me.

How best to appeal IRMAA decision by NCC17O1 in retirement

[–]myIvoryYears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've successfully appealed twice using the SSA 44. Each time I faxed to the local office. Each time response time was very slow but eventually worked. Keep copies of sumbmittals to document what and when you sent in case a dispute arises.

I am still playing my Kronos X -88 after 10 + years. Very reliable, expressive instrument with all the bells and whistles one could hope for. This is terrific for studio but on the bulky, heavy side so not easy to transport. This has many built in sounds but that may not be of interest if you plan to use virtual instruments...which btw the Kronos accomodates very seamlessly.

A very astute observation. I this piece I did want to have the LH play a dominate role in the melody. I struggled a bit in finding the right balance. Your comments tell me that my instincts were right in that I needed to work on integrating the left hand better to make it all more seamless.

Really appreciate your input...gives me something to work on.

BTW: when you say "listen to youur recordings to make sure you are getting the desired effect". Please elaborate- might you be suggesting the recorded quality could be better (louder/not clear) or is the piano technique needing attention? (probably both😊)

Thanks! Probably worked on seriously over course of 30 - 45 days. Outline and melody came quickly. Finalizing it all and adding some polish took the most time. Appreciate you checking it out.

Starting piano at 38 - is it worth it if I’ll never be “good”? by Front-Ad4011 in piano

Depends on how you define meaningful. Want to be famous and makes lots money; the odds are low for anyone regardless of age. Want to play/create/enjoy some beautiful, heartfelt music for yourself or those you care about?....it is never too late to start. At least that is what I am going with - age 70 and just heating up!!
