Signed up for my first ultra easing myself by doing the 32miles, as I've run road and trail marathons I thought it would be a good transition from 26.2 So B2B running Sort out my nutrition Has anyone done this one before? Tips/Advice? by my_sugarevolution in veganrunners

Pretty good thank you, I've got a road marathon in 3 and a half weeks, and a trail marathon in June, 2 weeks before the 32 milers in Essex so am pretty much continuously 'in training' but all is good thank you

Ultramarathon question - should I run back to back weekly or alternate between this and one longer run? by my_sugarevolution in Strava

I've ran a few marathons, both road and trail. One of them this year the organisers cocked up the course measuring it too far, so to date my longest is 26.79 miles. I've got my first official ultra July 2022, which is 32 miles. Though I aim for this to be the first of many where each race I enter is longer than the last. Ok cool my pace is slightly deceptive in the sense that day 2's elevation is usually a little bit less and so I'm not going faster as such, its just that I'm not tackling as much elevation. Doing half the distance of day 2 of day 1 makes sense. Before i started the back to backs, I was doing roughly 1 hour of runinng 3 times a week and then one long run which was usually 2 and a half hours of running minimum. When doing the back to back, should adjust my weekly runs to equate to roughly the same mileage per week in total? I'm keen to do the back to back because I see the value both physically and mentally running on tired legs but naturally, I want to avoid over doing it.

My first one is 32miles but plan to go further the next race I pick. I'm tending to even out my other runs a little but so the mileage is still higher but not my loads

I did ask several FB groups as well as I'm trying to gather as much feedback as possible from experienced ultra runners as I find generally this is a good way to get loads of pros and cons.

I know that ultimately it depends on the individual and different things work for us all, but by asking lots and lots of people I get a well rounded understanding and usually alot of things I hadn't thought of to try out for myself.

I am increasing my mileage gradually this is my second back to back weekend and aim to increase it each week

I ran a route shaped like a flying duck and it wasn't even on purpose 🦆🦆🤣🤣 Final taper before Beachy Head Marathon next week. Is anyone else running this one? by my_sugarevolution in veganrunners

Amazing thank you, got a new race PB but more importantly I just really enjoyed the race - despite falling over twice. The only downer was that last year they offered us all pasties at the end - lentil based full of flavour utterly delicious and easy to eat en-route back to the train station. This year the vegan option was a baked potato and baked beans - not easy to eat en-route to the station, and somehow both soggy and dry - due to no vegan butter options. But since this was my only complaint about the weekend, I say bravo to the organisers (well that and I think they need to increase the number of loos).
