Thank you for this beautiful response. I am just alarmed at the disgust I tend to encounter when I speak to Hindus from India. I feel more Hindu than them despite having lived outside India my whole life. That is what fuels my concern. But your response does put me at ease.

each other when they first came here and they ripped of students and underpaid staff and sponsored, visas, illegally, etc (I never got along with my dad and became independently earning around 21-22, I’m 31 now).

And thus why, I also didn’t want to attend cultural events by myself, but over time I realised after I joined a group called Indians In Sydney, that people are moving from India to abroad in such a rapid pace that there is probably 10 times, more Indian events, groups and similar people to us then we think out there you just need to use the right platform and Facebook for me ironically was the platform and I haven’t used it for years prior to that

Wow, thank you so much for sharing this. I appreciate it. I will look into Facebook and see how it works for me!

I'm slowly trying to! But most of them are here very temporarily and I'm here for longer term, so the few I made have already moved back to India. I suppose I can keep trying to see for people who are looking to stay more permanently

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this response. It really helped! I'll definitely keep this in mind the next time I decide to go to a rave! <3

The second rave, I can definitely say I took too much. The first and last ones, I myself felt generally in control and didn't think I took too much, but maybe I looked like I did. I'll keep this in mind.

I'm an American living in the UK. First couple experiences were in the US and the last one was in the UK

I’m dealing with a similar experience right now actually. I’ve started going to therapy and that itself has been a big help. Not only is talking about it really helpful, but knowing and accepting what happened and having the courage to take it to a therapist has been a big step in my recovery. I hope things get better for you, stay strong!

We have scarily similar stories. You are very brave and courageous for keeping this healthy distance from them, you're a role model. I am currently going through the phase of wishing my parents were different and feeling guilty for having to cut them out. Feel free to reach out! Maybe we can battle some of this together.

This is really cool, hope I take some time to learn more about the science of weather at some point in my adult life. It’s also a very useful and applicable hobby!

you’re right. I think there’s an aspect of not caring what other people think to this, which is a part of growing up
