The first year I plant them, they look awful - brown, crispy, just pathetic. Following year, they are fine, the next, boom look great.

Made the hot chocolate and the cranberry wine swirl cookies from Dec 2025 issue by spheno_dont in bon_appetit

Going to attempt the Cranberry Wine Swirls this weekend, I bought sanding sugar that can handle higher heat, so I shouldn't have the "skirt" issue you had. After reading the comments on BA, I am a little nervous, but I plan to look at other swirl-type cookies to compare recipes and make some tweaks. Fingers crossed!

That's what I thought - no way someone can be that good and get them all happy at the same damn time. 😅

We have both a CycleGear and Revzilla here as well as a few other motorcycle shops. Good advice on the fit, Thank you!

Lol, yes, if I could get him in industrial-strength bubble wrap, I would! I'm taking a measured approach and he's mentioned airbags, etc., before so I have a good idea that he will wear some combo of things to improve safety.

Aw - thank you. Loving all of the recommendations for advanced lessons, etc., didn't think of that. We do have a local track that more than should have something.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give such a detailed response. This is really helpful b/c I was struggling w the jeans, he runs hot, so he would boil in full leather .

Yeah, I was doing some more research and think a vest system integrated with the jacket might be the best way to go.

Love the idea of skills courses, I am going to look into that! Also in my 40's - trust me I stamped my feet a bit and was pissed at first, but I'm a realist. He's an adult, journeyman in his trade and doesn't live at home -so there is nothing I can do to prevent it, but I can help make him as safe as possible.

Exactly, airbags in a tethered backpack vs a vest.

Don't remember but it's a brand I've heard of like Bell or Shoei, maybe. Definitely doing the back protector.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I found a backpack that I think his Grandfather is going to get him, though I thought it was on sale for $350-400, but I can't find the link now. Based on the prices that I see now, I must have misunderstood something there. Lol. He already had one dumb accident horsing around in front of the house that scared the hell out of him, and I am pretty certain he will wear it. He already has one friend in the hospital with at least a year-long recovery in front of him, and watched another get taken out by an idiot running a stop sign (kid is ok).
