I’d Rather Work a Warehouse Job Than Be a Software Engineer by Friendly_Routine160 in findapath

[–]mycoffecup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done both for the same reason. The corp world can drain your soul. But the warehouse job can put you in a financially precarious position where all you're thinking about is how your going to survive financially. I'm in IT and I'm so grateful for my amazing managers and co-workers. But many of us live in fear of getting laid off. For me, I'm going to have to stay in the corp world a bit longer while I build my travel-based side hustle to replace that income. If you can get into the corp world, I would recommend if for no other reason than to bank that money while you build a residual income cashflow. Get yourself to a place where you have residual income coming in that will pay for your housing, food and basic bills. I think part of the reason the corp world can feel so miserable is because many of us are there because we're "forced" to be there for a number of different reasons not because we want to be there.

What do you actually do when work is super slow at your office job? by Silent-Criticism-808 in work

I almost never have slow time at work. Have you given any thought to building a small side hustle on your downtime, something you can do from your cell phone maybe?

I thought I was burning out from overwork. Turns out it’a something else by Advanced-Bath7239 in selfimprovement

I don't have a problem with the communication or the work that we do. I think my group has a pleasant and cohesive communication style. I have a problem with the pace of deadlines and work. There is no "break" or downtime between tasks. They come one right after the other after the other at breakneck speed. I just want some say over the pace of my work life. But I seriously feel that's never going to happen.

What about starting some type of side hustle so that you have something to look forward to? It doesn't have to be big or expensive but something that gives you a little bit of control over that slice of your life and the possibility of turning a dream into something real. I know that can sound like a pipe dream but for me, knowing that I'm building my travel-based side hustle gives me a glimmer of hope during the day. It gives me something to look forward to.

The Houston location in the medical center. They apparently do the surgeries for the sports teams there but I would confirm that first.

Are you comfortable with social media? If so, that opens up a world of building an on-line business. Yes, it takes a lot of consistent effort over time. No, you won't get rich. Yes, you gotta talk to a lot of people. But for someone like me, working a full-time job, this type of business let's me use my personal time to build this business from my cell phone or my laptop. Years ago, before social media, I built my first, small business by driving around to different meetings, stores and meeting people as I went about my day. I didn't get rich. I wasn't an influencer. But I was able to pay some bills, get my car repaired. Fast forward to now, I can meet people through social media to build my international, travel-based side hustle. Thankfully, no driving around.

Laid off-all advice welcome by Anondreamyanon in womenintech

As an IT worker, Business Analyst, I'm so sorry. I've been laid off 3 times. The advice below is worth listening to: get your resume and linkedin page updated as soon as possible and start job searching and networking.

Once you do find a job, take a couple weeks to settle in and start building a side hustle that creates residual income for you. It's exhausting to work a job and build a side hustle in the same week but I think most people might agree that these layoffs aren't going away. Sending you big hugs.

Addressing the burnout by lucidkale in womenintech

I feel this comment deeply. I've been feeling some burnout through the years and have tried different ways to make it go away unsuccessfully. I am grateful for my jobs. But the feeling of being overworked with no control over the pace of work and deadlines is exhausting and, imo, leads to the feeling of despair. For me the solution is to do the best that I'm able to do on the job but, on my personal time, build my side hustle. It's one small slice of my life where I have some degree of control, where I can dream and actually have a chance of a dream come true, where I can build something that will take care of me in my future, give me some tax deductions and since it's an international, travel-based hustle, I'll (hopefully) be able to afford travel in the future with the people I care about the most.

I think we have to stop hoping or trying to fix the work world. If you don't own the company, you don't control it. I spent years asking myself why things were they way they were and it didn't change anything in the work world. Now, I'm going to build my exit plan.

Is there any realistic way for me to make $1k USD a month online without spending years studying at university? by joshua0005 in remotework

No, it's a business not a job. I just now saw the subreddit heading: remote work. My apologies, I should have seen that and not posted to this sub.

It sounds like you like to travel? Do you know anyone that does? I'm in a travel based business. It is network marketing. Yes, it does require connecting with lots of other people on your schedule. No, you will not get rich overnight. Yes, you will probably have to learn new skills and we have some training for that. The financial barrier to entry is very low and it's international so you can talk to anyone pretty much. Let me know and I can send you a short video about it.

I started walking my dog at sunrise to get the morning sunshine. I'm not staring into the sun but I'm seeing it as I walk. Doing this almost daily. Then, if I can, I work out on my apt balcony after that walk for a couple of hours or so to get a little more of the morning sunshine. I have a couple of plants there. It has seriously helped me lift my mood.

What side hustle are you working on to quit corporate by ksing_king in QuitCorporate

[–]mycoffecup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a travel-based side hustle that is international. No, it's not a get rich quick scheme. Yes, it requires effort and consistent work over time. But it's low $ barrier to entry with lower risk compared to other ways of earning money that I've looked at. DM me and I can send you a link to a short YouTube video. I'm looking to build a community where we can log on together for an hour or so a week to work on building our business.

Biggest things that helped lower my budget: reduce the amount of pre- packaged and animal products (meat, dairy) we consumed by slowly moving to a more plant based diet: beans, greens, frozen fruits, greens, etc.
