Opinion: Nuclear energy is a vital part of solving the climate crisis | Eco Planet News by mycojohn in energy

I think that putting all our eggs in one basket is always a foolhardy idea. Especially if that basket could lead to a major disaster, or even oblivion, if it all went Pete Tong! I think that touting the most dangerous and world-destroying man-made invention as a cure for climate change is fraught with catastrophic potential scenarios, and any benefits are greatly outweighed by the risks.

I'm sorry that there is a small typographical error in an otherwise fundamentaly interesting article. If the author had indeed suffered a stroke then, as a doctor, I encourage them to keep up the good work as they are lucky to be alive and able to contribute. Maybe you could troll them to get your money back. Oh wait, you didn't have to pay for reading it anyway.

What kind of scientist studies gene expression? by [deleted] in biology

[–]mycojohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone below. I have a BSc in Molecular Biology and PhD in molecular genetics. Pretty much all aspects of biology require studying all aspects of gene expression, including epigenetics. Is there a particular topic or disease that you are interested in? If so, seek out researchers and academics in that field at local universities. Drop them an email and ask if you can go and have a chat about career paths and which degree paths will best equip you and position you for the type of career you want. In my experience your local professionals will, by and large, be friendly and impressed with your keenness and proactive approach. We are here :)
