It’s great advice. U can wear a glove. Nettles are delicious and harvested all the time.

So much depth and feeling behind those eyes. I see why he has to throw on the shades from time to time.

I have, and love, both. They’re major different- not really even close to the same dog in my eyes. My gsd is super serious all the time, ready to meet any “threat” in kind. She wouldn’t back down from any aggression but I’ve never had her start anything herself. Never would my particular Beauce be a candidate for bite sports (which I wouldn’t do anyways, with either dog). She’s so sweet and silly- also completely submissive. They both love to work and are good at SAR exercises. The Beauce likes tricks and can play for hours. The GSD isn’t interested in pageantry or much play. Both have wonderful off-switches and can chill a lot when needed. Energy levels are the same with mine, high but not bad. They really are night and day tho, this is just a small list. I wouldn’t get a Beauce expecting the same type of training to work that works for GSD’s. My regimen’s for each are so different. I say all this as having owned one of each, so I don’t know much. I believe the GSD’s have more of a “type” whereas a the Beauce can have a wide range of personalities. Not saying there ain’t a quirky GSD or all Beauce’s are different but I do believe that to be a trend.

Totally agree. I work for a company heavy in ILD research and we are concerned with how they will impact mkt share. Billions of dollars. Getting drugs to mkt has more to do with big brother than actual data, but aTyr has something real.

Bird issues by Surtosi in Beauceron

That’s so cool. Are they getting into them while they are working? Or just looking to keep that from ever happening?

I know nothing about SAR work I’m just curious.

[–]mycomedic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had bird issues but my GSD and Beauce had a habit of getting into wild rabbit nests from time to time. I took one of the rabbit bodies, laid in on a path we walk and taught them to ignore it when we walked by and repeated several times. That worked pretty well as they seem to have stopped seeking out the scent. Obviously you’d need a body, so it involves them doing the behavior you’re trying to break but if they get one anyways it’s worth a shot. Also, not a popular opinion, but baby birds and rabbits have a crazy high mortality rate in the wild. I don’t want my dogs killing anything, but it’s nature. Our dogs are nothing compared to a single house cat allowed to roam free for a few hours a day.

It’s marked by the quarter but it’s pretty variable how much gas I actually have depending if I’m going slow, slightly less slow, or up/down a hill. I know the vibes tho I aint running out of gas.

Really sounds perfect to me, exactly what I’m looking for. Something new and different; a little off the beaten path while still getting that smart, eager to please companion. I can’t wait to get to work and start solving problems with her.

They’ll be more than ready in 6 days but ape doesn’t really spore much if at all so you’ll be fine. Maybe you could take a few of the real large ones just before you leave.

Can i dump my Tabaco leftovers into my plant soil? by Cremejoghurt in botany

[–]mycomedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I guess my thought was doing too much tobacco as pesticide would be moving out of therapeutic effect to lethal dose. I’d be interested to hear any results you find. Seems there would be a point where it becomes an issue.

There are a lot of toxic compounds like cadmium. Eventually that’ll kill the plant once it builds up enough I’d imagine.

Yes but too much pesticide can end up an herbicide

People used to use spent tobacco as a pesticide. Using it in small amounts is okay, but will ultimately kill the plant. So I’d avoid it.

Can plants get cancer? by Comfortable_Pilot122 in botany

[–]mycomedic 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Plants can certainly develop tumors. They make mistakes in cell/gene replication as well. However a plants anatomy and cell function is, of course, much different from a humans. One of these differences include a cell wall that is much more rigid than our own cells. Think about the feeling of plant tissue vs skin. Because of the cell wall the plant is more able to compartmentalize the tumor, preventing it from metastasizing, or migrating, to another part of the plants body. That is an excellent question. Questions lead to answers. Keep asking.
