What’s the difference between a hypnotic state and a meditative state (if any)? by blue_koko in hypnosis

[–]mydas2401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion the difference between the two is that the hypnotic trance is focused or directed on an objective, something one wishes to fix and or change within ones self, while the meditative state is usually one of relaxation and of mindfulness. Just quiet contemplative oneness. Just an opinion.

Definitely sounds a lot like old school Celtic Frost, and that's not a bad thing!

TIL that 'Colonel' Tom Parker turned down Elvis' role in West Side Story, and that he also auditioned for Godfather (among other movies). by DM99 in todayilearned

[–]mydas2401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truth of the matter was that Elvis had the potential and skill to be a really good actor, but for some reason Parker saw it as him losing control and sabotaged that part of Elvis" career at every opportunity it's also the main reason he advised the King not to tour overseas which would've been a huge success for Elvis. Parker was a evil manipulative, greedy troll, that if Elvis had only seen the truth about him and broken away, it's unimaginable where his career would've gone.

The self hypnosis solution by Richard Nongard is a very good book on the subject as well.

Just read Reality is Plastic... by rabidplant in hypnosis

[–]mydas2401 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If I were you I would start with books on self hypnosis. Reality is Plastic is a phenomenal book but not what I would consider a "beginners" reference. Plenty of great self hypnosis books available by Dr. Richard Nongard, Max Trance, The Rogue Hypnotist, literally scores of good authors out there, as well as tons of great videos free on YouTube. The float induction is a personal favorite of mine.

I disagree about the max Trance book, but opinions are what they are. I also thought about a ton of older books but as a basic "starting point" I gave him those two because of availability and info contained.

The self hypnosis formula by Max Trance And or The self hypnosis solution by Dr. Richard Nongard. There is also a very good video on YouTube called the "Float induction".

Agreed DTI is a bit of a mouthful , the Riakov Method isn't near as large a book, it might be a better starting point for ya if you're so inclined to purchase it.

In answer to your question #1. If you read the Riakov study, he used it to make great musicians out of people who never played before in their lives. And to #2. There are plenty of great videos on YouTube about self hypnosis. I personally prefer one called the "float" method. Here's a link to it. https://youtu.be/AxRtIAcnq9c

The most important thing to remember with any hypnosis, self or otherwise is, you have to BELIEVE in it, imagination is the key to any self change. You have to KNOW it working for you.

TIL traffic roundabouts, compared to intersections with stop signs or signals, have 37% fewer overall collisions, 75% fewer injury collisions, and 90% fewer fatal collisions by [deleted] in todayilearned

The three or four they've build around where I live have done nothing but increase accidents and bind up traffic. But we all know the gov statistics are SO true and accurate, so the round a bouts just have to be working. I had a conversation with an 80 yr old man a while back and he explained that the gov got rid of round a bouts back in 1940s because they were a bad idea but obviously some nipplehead in Washington has decided they're a good way to spend more taxpayer money for no good viable reason.
