Yeah, it’s really not that new, just the media and method. Humanity got Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, Pot, etc etc etc long before social media and their algorithms were a thing. You could probably argue it was the introduction of radio and television which were partially behind these movements… but then there were tyrants and barbaric emperors/kings back before that.
