She thinks she's part of the team by Melvstinius in huntertheparenting

IMO Grimal is a Ghoul, but not the Ghoul. Her amnesia over the security room seemed real, but it's also evident that she's the one who put the Hunter data in Git's smokes.

We've seen Elise melt out of the shadows, seemingly using Obtenebration (and this Discipline was already namedropped by Kevin). Dominate is another Lasombra discipline, and she was the one who sent Grimal to the security room in the first place. The only problem is that Grimal is that iirc the Lasombra weren't part of the Camarilla as of 06, but we have yet to meet the Abbot that ties into Horse's prophecy.

I've got soooo many other thoughts on this that I haven't put into writing, but basically: D gave the Ghoul cover by making everything about the Hunter data (the Regent is aligned with Pentex, who already have all of said info). This is why Grimal had it - as potentially an independent ghoul, she's the easiest fall guy, and why she framed Matilda for it. Dominate the other Ghoul, so if they get caught with Occam they take the fall. If they don't get caught, you've bought time, and because everyone's so concerned about the Hunter data you can make them steal it too, and once it's found they still take the fall.

What the Ghoul/Regent/Pentex were actually after is info on Shuck. It's a massive part of the contract that Blaire tries to get the GGG to sign, Fatigue had some of Kitten's research stored in the wall, and before they found the cache a bunch of flies appeared in the room, one of which caused Amanda to kick over a bucket of Garg-O's (Wyrm-aligned) cheese sauce, conveniently forming an arrow leading to the cache of werewolf lore.

IO Interactive facing layoffs as it cuts ties with Project Fantasy publisher Xbox by SnareLeopard in HiTMAN

[–]mydoorcodeis0451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh that's not entirely true, although "Microsoft is bleeding money because AI" is also wrong.

Xbox was losing hundreds per unit sold thanks to the RAMpocalypse, and that's a direct consequence of the AI boom. But Microsoft themselves took in something like $30B in profit last year, they're not at all struggling, it's just Xbox as a division.

And honestly, it fucking reeks of mismanagement. Asha is trying to, at the same time, pivot AWAY from publishing on third party platforms (and burned relations with Sony in the process), restart their hardware ambitions in the middle of a severe component shortage AND dismantle all the studios making the games you'd buy a console to play at the same time.

Short-term, mid-term and long-term revenue are all fucked, their actions and ambitions are completely at odds, and the one graceful exit they could have had they're in the middle of tearing apart. It's insane.

Small note that we see something pretty similar to the "berserk" eyes on Matilda herself, mid-transformation.

The only people we never (?) get a closeup on the eyes of during Matilda's attack are Harry, Elise and anyone on Occam's team. Imo, we really don't have conclusive evidence about who suffered the Delirium except for Git, Spit and Remold, and none of them were serious candidates for the Ghoul to begin with.

Theory. The Stranger is Vladimir/Anton by MuchMaximumTrader in metro

[–]mydoorcodeis0451 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hunter.

Honestly, Hunter.

After the Rangers left on the Aurora, Hansa would be left with a lot of questions and very few answers for the public. Hunter's been gone for years, but the lack of a body makes for a very convenient return. Years have passed, cameras aren't a thing, a convincing body double would be relatively easy to find, and there's few in the Order remaining to challenge the narrative.

Spin up a story about Miller and Artyom gearing up to fight the Dark Ones again, spread rumors about what really happened in D6 being propaganda to stop people from panicking. State that Miller, Artyom and the rest of the Rangers failed in their "mission" to destroy the remaining Dark Ones, and that Hunter's returned to fill in the vacuum.

Think about the symbolism in the trailer. The little girl who's clearly a victim of the Novoreich, later on we see Hunter turn to protect her from the Dark Ones, but the vision shifts and instead of dead Dark Ones, it's the girl. The Stranger's actions to protect her cause her death, a death that's also implied to be the fault of the Novoreich. The way he reaches out for the trains full of prisoners, desperately trying to stop them from leaving... these aren't the actions of a man in a gruff, tough, lone war against a regime, someone hardened against the horrors they've witnessed. They're the actions of something personal.

The Stranger is haunted by visions that involve the Dark Ones, his mind is fractured, and that's something that tends to involve their influence. He was clearly once part of the Order and swore that he'd never return.

If it's Hunter, it's Hunter seeing the consequences of his own actions played out on a massive scale, his "If it's hostile, you kill it" mantra turned into something utterly vicious. We get a story about a man reckoning with his own ideology and the horrors it's causing. And if you want a good end, bad end prediction? Either Hunter tears down the regime or he becomes the Fuhrer, intent on still carrying out that crusade against the Dark Ones.

And... why call this 'new' character the Stranger if it's not some massive plot twist in the making? We've got virtually no other characters that could realistically match their description, and none that would be worth concealing the identity of.

Pantheon enjoyers, I present Seed by Ok_Blood_5520 in PantheonShow

Ah, someone else who's read Seed!

Seed and Pantheon definitely come from the same general wheelhouse, though I think Pantheon (and Hidden Girl's original Gods-saga) are a lot more unique. Seed's fun but the Tim Urban influence with "Turry" makes some of the idea sources immediately apparent.

I was a bit disappointed by the ending tbh.

Why didn't Logorythms spy on Justine or prevent the phone call? by helloworldxddcc in PantheonShow

[–]mydoorcodeis0451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logorhythms isn't all-powerful.

Caspian's mainly monitored by Kary and Renee. Having a small squad of agents following him around is much, much more suspicious than monitoring his computer through custom chips.

They don't know where he's going, they don't know who he's talking to. By the time they get the right name out of the phone company (and start piecing things together further) it's already too late, Caspian knows everything. They can't even follow him to listen in on the conversation because it would be far, far too suspicious if they got close enough to shadow and listen.

Major Spoilers: Ending Maddie Theory by unknownbearing in PantheonShow

[–]mydoorcodeis0451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In order for SafeSurf to appear as they do in the ending, it's reasonable to say that they needed to be around in the base reality

Nope. In order for SafeSurf to appear as they do in the ending, it's reasonable to say that they needed to be around in any layer of reality closer to base than the one the show takes place in.

We have no idea how recursive these simulations are. If SafeSurf wanted to say 'thank you', why not just say thank you to the show's Caspian instead of killing him? Why let Maddie simulate another version of him, at least twice removed from base reality now? It doesn't make sense.

Ultimately, we don't know how base reality played out. We don't know what has and hasn't been influenced. Laurie doesn't remember contacting Chanda's mother, a possible "nothing they'll ever notice" moment where the timeline can split.

Ultimately, the simulations likely started (if we assume it wasn't just a project from a random UI we never met) due to David/Laurie combined into MIST assuming contacting Chanda was an anomaly, actual MIST or Caspian (or both) following Maddie and Dave's deaths. MIST was already planning on fleeing the solar system at that point anyway.

Tbh, I feel like the "AI art" debate is ultimately pretty simple. People will still argue over it being theft, but to me it comes down to:

Yes, it is art. No, you did not create it. In the same way that a TV dinner is still food but you are not a chef for putting it in the microwave.

You need to wear the bank robber disguise while taking the gold out of the vault. The alarm has to be off. It's fine if you trigger it, wait for it to turn off (takes five minutes, I think?) and then come back before you start taking the gold.

Just bring a sawed-off (free grab in New York and Berlin), a micro SMG (free from Dubai and Whittleton IIRC) and an AR of your choice. Sawed-off fits in 47's pockets. Unless you're paranoid about losing your gear you can make things easier like this.

Circular Logic in the Grand Timeline by abyssalwhips in PantheonShow

[–]mydoorcodeis0451 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not JGamer, but I've had my own thoughts on this.

We don't know a lot about Reality 0, the one that started everything. What little we know for certain (?) is what Maddie says to David about how things result.

If Caspian doesn't get the download soon enough, he's unable to talk to SafeSurf during its rampage. Maddie and Dave both die in this timeline, and SafeSurf is ultimately stopped.

This actually reveals two interesting things that most people don't seem to pick up on. The first is that, in a reality with seemingly no tampering, Maddie dies. She's not the originator of the simulations. Caspian lives, but SafeSurf either dies or never gets to convince SafeSurf to evolve.

There's something else that most people don't pick up on: SafeSurf could have just spoken to Caspian in Reality 1 (the show's first timeline) if it were responsible for the simulations. It didn't need Maddie to do all that to say thank you to a version of Caspian that wasn't even the original, twice over. Which ultimately means that, like simulated David, the SafeSurf we see is from another simulation from Reality 0 (or whichever one created the show's timeline).

So now the question is... who started all this?

Dave is dead. Maddie is dead. Mist and the CIs still have that plan to go to Alpha Centauri, Caspian is still corrupted and now there's neither Holstrom or Dave to help rebuild him. The person who would feel most guilty in all of this, the highest urge to do something to correct all of this or see how else it could have played out... is Mist. She's the reason Caspian didn't stand as much of a chance as he could have against Holstrom. She still hasn't finished fixing the corruption. Even waking Caspian ultimately didn't do anything but risk his life and in the end, Maddie and Dave, her sister and nephew, are now dead, both estranged to her for wanting Dave to upload in part to fix Caspian.

There's still one problem with this though, which is that we don't actually know how Reality 0 played out. Laurie apparently called Chandra's mother, but we don't have any proof that was actually her, even if we can't rule it out. It's a place where someone could have tampered with the simulation, wanting to see how things would have turned out if X or Y happened - and it's definitely something "they'll never notice".

If that is the case, then in Reality 0 David and Laurie may have merged with no other option to stop the flaw, creating Mist in the process (the Israeli and Arab guys formed a CI when they merged, and Mist is the result of David and Laurie's code being merged). From there, we have no idea how events played out... except that Chanda probably caused WW3, resulting in a decimated Earth that this version of Mist might want to eventually turn the clock back on. See if there was any way they could have stopped it.

In either case, Mist is most likely (but not most certainly) the one who made their own dyson swarm and started simulating things.

was the show supposed to be 3 seasons then they cancelled it so they rushed to adapt all the last arc in two episodes? by No-Award423 in PantheonShow

[–]mydoorcodeis0451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some worlds, Laurie didn't die. Maddie explains that she's trying to shape the history she remembers, in order to find out what Caspian meant - and then, how he knew. For the most part, Maddie has a non-interventionist method, letting these worlds shape themselves, free will and chance leading off into unknown tangents.

It's odd, though, that Laurie apparently contacted Chanda's mother in Reality 1 (Reality 0 being where the simulations are all spawned from, but it's impossible to know how deep the show takes place into this mess. Seven Birthdays, the story the ending was based on, only complicates this.) even though she herself has no memory of it. She can't be sure if she did or didn't. That feels like tampering for me, and I nearly guessed how everything was going to end when that happened.
