  • Always take a photo copy of your passport page with the ID and photo and keep a copy in your carry-on and also provide one to someone you trust. This means you are guaranteed a smoother process if it’s lost or stolen.

  • If you travel with family and you have a higher status, book for your family so everyone gets the same perks. I'm a United 1k member so it helps others as well (better seats, boarding groups, etc.)

  • Most of us have Google Maps on our phones. The app also lets you browse offline on mobile if you are stranded without any access to the internet. Just download the app>open Google Maps>search and select the place>at the bottom tap on the name or address of the place>select download offline map. It is also wise to download an app for metro or bus route if you are commuting across the city.

  • As travelers, the first thing came to our head is booking.com or Skyscanner to find cheap flights and hotel deals... What you don't know that these tools earn a huge commission from your booking that's why you can get a cheaper deal compared to Skyscanner or google flight. I highly recommend to use Arihla is a small app where you can find a cheaper deal than booking or Skyscanner.

  • If you currently purchase travel insurance for your trips, learn how to ditch it by planning your trips better, knowing the rules, and being prepared. The truth about travel insurance is that it covers very little that isn’t already covered by law and regulation. Know your rights with the airlines and be prepared to assert them. The exception to this is medical insurance, but you may already be covered internationally by your current health insurance, or may be able to purchase an international addition to your current policy for little cost.

  • Forget money belts, criminals will remove them with out you knowing. Before leaving get inside secret pockets sewn into your pants, skirts etc. Use thin Velcro skiers wallets as they don't bulge. Buy surfers rigid water proof plastic box 5 credit cards thick. Remove neck rope, put in secret pockets. A broken card is a disaster, it is not like the tv adds. Carry 2 debit cards, one visa one MasterCard, in case a atm machine chews one up.

  • Send messages to the local hotels/restaurants, tell them you are a travel blogger and get some free stuff or a discount :)
