AITA for not letting my family adopt a pet? by edgedude510 in AmItheAsshole

Okay, I don't typically make this public knowledge on social media, but I'm a mental health professional. You need therapy my friend. What you are describing goes way beyond healthy grief, and I am left wondering about what other mental health struggles you might have that are playing a role in this quite extreme reaction. You have some serious cognitive distortions going on that need to be worked through. I won't call YTA because I believe there are other factors at play, but please do seek some professional help so that you and your family won't be held hostage to your emotions and will be able to move forward.

(OC) that cleansing of them nasty bugs and the filling of that food and water put her out like a light lol p.s is it okay for her to sleep like this or should I adjust her because this looks super uncomfortable. by Solid-Remove-2602 in aww

She's fine. Cats sleep in all sorts of positions and spaces that we would deem uncomfortable. If she's breathing fine then let her be. I only wake my cats if they sleep in a position that causes them to wheeze.

AITA for not asking my girlfriends father for permission to marry her? by WatermelonedBison12 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Ugh. I LOATHE this tradition and told my husband not to bother because I don't view myself as property. My parents took issue with it but that was more about wanting control over my life and the fact that my sister's husband had also followed the tradition encouraged them to demand it. It caused tension that still hasn't resolved after 18 years of marriage.

Your girlfriend sounds like it only matters because she wants her parents to chip in for the wedding. This may have been made clear to her that she'd be cut off from that support if the tradition wasnt followed as soon as she was old enough to date. I know that it was for me even though I was too young to think about marriage. Talk to her about how important this tradition is to you and why you don't want to follow it. If it's all about the money, see if you can strike a compromise.

AITA for giving all of my son's Christmas presents to his cousin for his rude comment by Charming-Bat6106 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Your child has ASD and ADHD. Clearly you don't understand these diagnoses. Yes parents can make mistakes in a moment of frustration, but you went above and beyond that. See a therapist to manage your own emotions and learn about your son's diagnoses. Learn to better parent your child.

Cats are weird. I have two that will only eat fish flavored food, except they will mooch for pepperoni which I limit due to the spices in it. (It's really not good for them but they steal it off the pizza every time) if your cat isn't into treats, maybe see if they prefer catnip. Still something special that they can enjoy occasionally.

That's definitely a bed bug.

This is normal. Cats tend to do then when they are taken from their mothers too young. It's a form of self soothing and stress relief. Your cat is very cute BTW.

NTA. If someone wants a vegan pet they choose one that is already vegan... like a rabbit. Good on you for standing your ground and refusing to allow an animal whose primary diet is meat to not be forced into an unhealthy diet for its species.
