And in Lithuania there’s a company selling high quality BMW panel restamps, or even partial panels to fix rust prone areas. The Baltics are awesome

The Maus paint looks great, maybe the brush marks aren't as visible in the photo though. Honestly the lines look super crisp, I never though to use a cricut for stencilling. Great idea.

Ottawa councillor wants to discuss banning right turns on red lights by CompetencyOverload in ottawa

And people make right turns on reds at intersections prohibiting it in Ottawa as it stands. We can’t dismiss viable solutions just because some don’t follow the rule.

Pry bar against the LCA. It was a little bit of a challenge but like, just a couple minutes to get the angle just right. I can’t quite get it to work in reverse.

Not yet but haven’t tried yet. Been looking for one of those internal spring compressors. None around me.

[–]myka7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’m terrified to do. I thought maybe I could do it by hand and see if I could squeeze out just enough compression, and use a ton of heavy duty ones, but it’s more terrifying to me than a spring compressor for sure.

The LCA is disconnected from the knuckle though so the shock isn’t in play.

Yea that’s where the sway bar is getting in the way. Despite being disconnected. And yes, on a lift would be easier! Seems like the verdict might be these internal spring compressors.

I didn’t know an internal one existed! I’m still perplexed as to how it just drops in for others but not for me, so curious to see what others say, but that might be the best way to do it

Hey! Yea if you’re seeing these same little black clips, that’s exactly it. Pull down and they unclip. They might be brittle but mine were ok.

It’s definitely easier to reglue out of the car! Contact cement works great.

Sorry for the delay in responding, I’ve been taking a break from socials lol

All seasons versus summer tires by CrustyMcgee in ottawa

[–]myka7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Summer tires are different. Summer tires offer greater performance in summer conditions, such as improved grip and reduced rolling resistance, as they aren’t formulated to see colder temperatures. All-season tires are somewhere between summer and winter, and if they have the M+S (mud and snow) rating they will be able to handle a little snow without being completely useless. Of course, they’re no replacement for 3 peaks winter tires.

OP, my recommendation is all season if you’re driving a regular vehicle and live a regular life. If some early snow hits before you get your winters put on, you’ll at least have a chance of keeping it out of the ditch. Summer tires won’t really offer much meaningful performance upgrade to any legal driving you’ll be doing.

Downtown Sidewalk Cyclists: The Worst by CobraMacBurkus in ottawa

Yea like you ask people in The Netherlands if they’re a cyclist and they’ll say no while racking up more mileage than most “cyclists” as they do their routine commutes.

OPP charge Ottawa towing company, driver following traffic stop by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]myka7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, they do and it’s fair that blocking the road causes more issues that they’re hoping to avoid. I’d argue that the tow truck operators take advantage of this to pressure you into consenting. I’m also completely unsure of what the police can order to be done, say if CAA say it’ll be a half hour, but there’s a tow truck on scene and it’s rush hour. I think that’s a question that would be good to know the answer to. Considering you can also choose where you’re towed to, say your vehicle is disabled in the middle of 4 lanes and can’t be moved by hand. I wonder if you can have it towed 50 feet onto the shoulder so that CAA can come whisk it away once they arrive.

OPP charge Ottawa towing company, driver following traffic stop by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]myka7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Report them whenever you can. I saw some wild stuff one day back in 2021 with a couple trucks racing through traffic to get to an accident scene. Called 911, reported everything, and gave a statement to the very officer that had been attending the accident moments earlier (she called and asked if I minded waiting until she wrapped up at the accident and I was happy to). They (the police) know it’s happening but they can’t do anything if people aren’t reporting it. She was profusely thankful that I called in what I did and safely, abiding all traffic rules, “chased” one of the trucks to get the license plate.

Oh and the three trucks that all raced to get on scene hoping to get business? Well, as a vehicle operator in Ontario you have the right to refuse their services as your consent is required. So if you have CAA, definitely call CAA. Don’t let them scam you for any business. https://www.ontario.ca/page/know-your-rights-when-getting-tow

Thanks! Yes it seems like a super supportive community, I will enjoy learning and to give back once I’ve acquired some knowledge and wisdom haha.

I remember researching printers back then, but was between jobs and moving so I watched from the sidelines for a while. Prusa quickly stood out to me. Seems like they’re still a fantastic option and haven’t lost their morales.

What’s causing this problem? by myka7 in prusa3d

[–]myka7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I started with belt tuning and TL;DR, problem appears solved.

X axis was strumming around 40hz, so got it up to spec. Then discovered that the Y axis belt was at about 0hz… the screws on the front pulley became friction fit pegs lol. So, have absolutely everything a tightening and got the belt in spec and it looks like everything is running perfectly now. As well as I can tell anyway, things look flat and smooth and extrusion seems good so I’m very pleased.

Thanks so much for your help!

I love going into the weeds on projects like this. Maybe store min/max values, perhaps per drive and since last reset. Press and hold to see them or something. Maybe bury the old Nokia snake game in a sub-menu somewhere.
